The trailer (second one that is) really looks unfinished, there are no post production effects so everything felt off.
As for the new bad guy(s) not sure but after the Dominion and the Borg I think the Federation has had enough recent combat experience to deal with them pretty easily. Which actually in an affect could be an interesting way, in that dealing with these guys in such a military fashion ends up bringing down the Federation or at least in its ideal utopian form (Ok I know this was covered in another DS9 episode so shush!).

Im really liking this a lot.
It looks darker and more gritty than TNG, Voyager, DS9 or TNG. Considering this is a private venture, I think it is great.

Wow...you made me think...why didnt the Enterprise E have those fancy ablative armor plates and trans-phasic torpedos? Why were all those starships being destroyed by the Borg cube in First Contact if there was an Admiral Janeway back at Starfleet to talk privately with Picard on the Enterprise E? Ahhhh! Need...to....put....brain...on...Reduced Cognition Mode (RCM).

I agree! This second trailer felt unfinished. I also had trouble understanding what the new alien guy was on about.

This project, it is not a primary project. 
It is an unlicenced, un-sponsored, un-associated project for a pilot for a possible TV show. 
This means that once finished, it will exist as a "what if", sitting in the Inbox at CBS. Why the glum mood? Because frakking Orci wants to do a TV show using his dreck of Trek. I am going to be writing a rant on his latest "f*ck off" comment to Trekkies who hated his last movie:

He considers faithful Trekkies to be "haters" now, because we hated his dumbed down Trek. But that is another thread (its coming). Orci wants HIS Trek to be on TV:

So, after looking up some more social shit on Orci, I find that he is a self-absorbed prick like Brad Wright. That means that no other Trek is going to get a shot if this clown gets his TV show. Perhaps CBS will allow it to continue as a web series without demanding rights? Star Trek Phase II which does a continuation of TOS actually DOES have a license. But they have to restrict their efforts to TOS Trek and it's characters only, and they cannot do theatrical releases or enter into a syndication contract with any studio. Sounds restrictive.
Where will this project go? Realistically speaking, that is.....

Yeah I was wondering where this show is even going, legally speaking. And what's the deal with CBS, why are they retaining the rights when they aren't doing shit with it? I don't understand the whole situation. I'm surprised they haven't sent a cease and desist letter by now; are they trying to see if this goes anywhere? Maybe we'd better support it since they seem to be not responding, might indicate they're using it as a test.

But I am wondering too about the legality of this thing. It is as if it is a higher end fan project, and the fan club is made up of the former actors of Trek. :jaded:. It reminds me of when Joe Flanigan was talking about doing an Atlantis thing after it was canceled. With Orci and Kurtzman at the helm of NuTrek, I dont have high hopes for this project.
They will put the brakes on it I think. How could there be two Trek shows on the air at the same time? Not gonna happen. Why would CBS back a Trek from the old TNG/DS9/Voyager timeline using the old actors?

It is a crop of a beautiful sunset I took at Faria State Beach in 2010 whilst camping. It was in December, but not on the Solstice. I take pride in the fact that we are observing an actual celestial event which takes place about the same time each year, and had that significance to the ancient civilizations before the fake arbitrary "holidays" created to empty our wallets.Happy Solstice, and looking forward to longer days from here on out.

Sorry to desert you all. I have been really busy...Right I have thrown in the towel. This is like watching a D class parody. Awful acting, script writing and not to mention poor sound and wtf shaky cams. It makes my head hurt. I feel sorry for those put their money towards this. This is SHIT to put it politely.

I think they were desperate for attention, and money. The acting feels so robotic. May as well turn it into a musical with singing and dancing. Oh and here is a real kicker. They are pitching for a full fledged series.
