Why is this thread not gaining any traction? Better yet, why aren't people about stargate? Is the enthusiasm dead already? :(

New dairy.

I'd like to see a bit more then just some woman's backside walking through a SG. Surely they have something on 'film' even without main characters by now?

but then, at 100 mins total series length. is there much to show in a trailer without telling the story in the trailer?

I'm interested in anything Stargate but it doesn't appear there is anything to see yet. I also think I might just wait until all episodes are available and binge em as like pussy says it's basically a movie length in total.

Have they even started main shooting yet? I think it will be awhile before we see any clips. Also, I'm not thrilled about the ten-minute airing format. That's stupid. They need to air the thing as a whole movie.

I know...10 minutes? I shower about that length of time. How can you advance the story and develop characters in 10 min? And I still want to know if there is an actual stargate in the thing.

Same as Blood & Chrome. Who would want to watch 10 minutes at a time?!

that reminds me

B&C is on HULU and a couple of other on line only sites

It airs in an uninterrupted full form. i think there a even a few extra min's in it--surely HULU paid them something for it

perhaps that is the 'payoff' the TPTB's of this are looking to? a larger streamer to pick up the full version and perhaps also pick up the bill for more seasons?

the way these ppl jive and jostle for production cash--anything is possible

Im most worried about TPTB going "back" to Brad Wright or reaching out to his associates for a reboot. Unlike Star Trek, Stargate SG-1, if revived, would need a full reboot. Atlantis could be continued with a new crew. But all that is unlikely. Nobody builds giant sets anymore. It would all be CGI (expensive)

I'm sure if Brad Wright got involved with this turkey the first thing he would do would be to try and shoehorn a connection to SGU into the story, lame as that sounds.

You might be right. But I sure hope he would have learned his lesson by now.

I'm sure Wright and Cooper are still neurotically attached to SGU. They will be the last two people to ever give up on that lousy show. It's tied into their psyches and egos and they're too close to it to be objective. Having it canceled has got to have stung on a profoundly personal level, especially after success with two other shows. Letting go of that albatross isn't the easiest thing to do when you're so invested in it.

Meh, even they should have come to their senses. I'm sure they still like the idea of their show but they know they fucked up on how they brought it. It should not have had the communication stones (stonelesscutter FTW) and it shouldn't have had any of the relationships and such in it. Just leaving those things out would have made the show so much better and much more in line with what Stargate used to be. In that context the idea of Destiny travelling from galaxy to galaxy could have been mindblowing. They should have just focused on that instead of the (melo)drama. Nobody has a plate in their head thick enough not to realize that, not even Brad and Cooper.

They had the makings of an awesome show with what was available in SGU. The ship was interesting. They did not have to say it was "clearly Ancient in design". It wasn't. They should not have made the gates "short range". Why would they be short range when Destiny could be reached by dialing the 9th chevron from a much later version of the gate like in SG-1 and those in Atlantis? How did the newer gates get seeded before the old ones on that seeder ship we saw? So many continuity changes just to make it more like BSG (and thus, less like Stargate).

I am not liking the idea of Brad Wright and/or Robert Cooper getting involved in this. They want to do their new edgy stuff, not the "same old" Stargate, and that is basically what we want.

This "trailer" is a lot more promising than what I saw before. Seems to be very much akin to SG-1.

Actually this looks like the old stargate movie rather the tv series IMO. Everything from the props to the tint used.

I was going to say that first...beat me to it! It looks like the movie more than it looks like any of the TV series Brad made. For me, that is AWESOME! I started my Stargate journey with the movie, not SG-1. I initially did not like SG-1 but I started to like it after the first season. But yeah, this thing is much more like the movie than the TV series.
