and indeed had the idea of having it look battle-shippy while still retaining that functional White-ish NASA look and keeping it realistic with the centrifical force gravity thing.

You DONT do what I complain that whomever designed the Enterprise GT did. You dont add "doodads" to your designs which arent somewhat functional. Every detail of that design looks like it is needed. You did not skin every surface of the ship and enclose the complete structure, and you would not have to. Love your design.

That, my artist friend, is obviously an interstellar craft designed for long voyages and not speed, and definitely not landing! At least that is what it's design says to me.

I was looking at the nose of your ship and the tri-fins in the middle when making that comparison.

I notice OM said it looked functional (and it does), but why the tapered end on the front? That has to be for asthetics yeah? I can't imagine why any spaceship would have a weak spot like that in the design.

You would require a shaped shield to do that though would you not?
Would it not be far more practical to have a cuboid or spherical shield?

Don't get me wrong, I like the asthetics, I am merely looking at the practicalities.

After looking at it again, it could easily be where the Bridge, engineering and navigation controls and more living/control quarters are. That section is HUGE and could have several decks in it. What's more, there are antennas projecting out from it. OMNI can tell us, but every inch of that ship looks functional to me. It looks believably like something we might build not too long from now...less than 100 years.

After looking at it again, it could easily be where the Bridge, engineering and navigation controls and more living/control quarters are.

You want to put your most sensitive sections in the FRONT of the ship???
Nu BSG at least got one thing right by putting the C-n-C area in the middle of the ship!!

That section is HUGE and could have several decks in it. What's more, there are antennas projecting out from it. OMNI can tell us, but every inch of that ship looks functional to me. It looks believably like something we might build not too long from now...less than 100 years.
