That comment from the WHR was so hilarious, I have to say something myself!
I can already imagine it, how they write an email to a police office.
"Dear police officer. A lot of people have said on Twitter, Facebook and our fansite, that SGU sucks! Please throw them into prison, because that is a crime everywhere in the word! In the attachment you find a list of 10,000 IP addresses, so that you can persecute them."
Police officer's reaction:

The US population is by the way smaller as far as I know. More like 309 million people. But the ratings are of course still horrible.
So now it is an insult to the SGU actors to not go to their panels.
People simply didn't go to their panels, because they didn't want to waste their time! Most people don't go to the panel of an actor, if you aren't watching his series. There are a lot of other things to do at a conventions, like going the the panels of actors of series you like, getting autographs and photographs of them, looking around the sales booths, speaking with other fans, and so on. Conventions are often quite expensive. Why waste time on people you are not interested in?
When the SGU actors' panels at cons are practically empty, it is not the fault of the SG1/SGA fans. Those fans are at the cons for SG1/SGA actors.
SGU simply have not a lot of fans who go to the conventions to see the actors. I am still amazed, that someone is blaming fans of other series for not being interested in seeing SGU actors!
If a panel of a Star Trek convention would be barely attended, I certainly wouldn't blame Star Wars fans for this!!!
When they didn't make an SG1/SGA movie shortly after SGA's cancellation, it was clear that it would never be made. It was clear that SG1 and SGA are dead, before SGU even started airing.
By the way if MGM would still like to make a SG1 and/or SGA movie, getting a crew, who would make it, wouldn't be a problem. I think most, probably all, SG1/SGA actors would do it (a TV movie don't take long to make) and there are a lot of producers, writers, costumers, makeup, set constructors, contractors, support staff and creators, who would surely like to do the job. If you offer pay for a job, you usually will find someone, who like to do that job.
A lof of people, who don't like SGU, simply wanted to see it cancelled. SGU is dead now and they got their wish.
You can whine and lament about the "bad" SG1/SGA fans as much as you want. You can fudge the ratings numbers. You can participate in Save SGU campaigns. It all doesn't matter. SGU is dead and will stay dead forever.
