yes, it was yet another tedious ep of "our favorite show on tv ever". but at least there was a bit of progression in the plot

-we have a better idea of the size of Negan's ppl

-we know they are not very good fighters--probably because they use so much 'shock and awe' at each encounter, killing one person to make a statement, therefore, they never get the chance to improve their tactical skills

- that TPTB's someplace are considering the issue of the "never ending ammo supply" with Eugene considering the need to make ammo
(though, taking over a whole machine shop would not be necessary--any gun shop in the area would carry reloading supplies (powder, primer, bullets, shells) and the press and other equipment needed. looters would have overlooked this stuff)

-and, we now know that Eugene's new hair look-the ponytail, was to keep his hair out of the way for his dick biting

I don't know that looters would overlook reloading equipment. Chances are someone would know the value of such things and would take them. Although a stationary machine shop might come in handy for fixing existing guns, forging new parts and for making non-firearm type weapons. The bottom line though is that for simple reloading purposes they could easily transport the items directly to Alexandria (or elsewhere) and do it in someone's kitchen. So I'm not quite sure what Eugene was intending in terms of where they would use the equipment. If they used the machine shop in town they would be very vulnerable to attack I would think, especially since they would basically be the repository for bullets right at that spot. Better to construct a machine shop behind the walls of Alexandria than to risk pulling shifts at the factory in town.

Hopefully they have an attack of intelligence (rare I know) and realize that they should just do like Shaved said - figure out what they need from the machine shop that is reasonably portable and bring it all to Alexandria. And while they are at it do some other things like reinforce the walls, actually plant some veggies and so on.

I actually laughed when, at the end of the episode, they said "Rick is coming" as if that had any importance when it came to dissecting the events of the day and strategizing for the group's future. Talk about a bunch of moronic fatalists.

Yes this was that boring. Essentially little happened except Rick's gang had yet another attack of stupidity and got a bunch of them captured. Now of course we're all set to meet the "big baddie" Negan, who if they follow the comics will beat someone to death with a baseball bat.

I chose to watch the season 2 premiere of Grantchester which was on at the same time on PBS. From what I could tell from my occasional popping over to TWD (and JL's review of the ep) it looks like I made the right choice.

Ah, so Jeffrey Dean Morgan is "Negan". Apparently we get to meet him in the season finale. I wonder if he's gonna kill off a certain character or if they will save that until next season.

I have a funny feeling it won't be Glenn. They haven't been necessarily adhering to the comic, as it was Abraham who got the arrow through the eye in the comics not Denise. Maybe Coral?

Rumors seem to be pointing towards Daryl. From what I understand he's not even in the comic books. Loren Cohan (sp?) who plays Maggie said in and interview that her short haircut precedes a really dark period so she might be referencing Glenn. But that could just be a red herring. This show has promised exciting cliffhangers before but has failed to deliver.

Well....moderately exciting episode I guess. But the "cliffhanger" is utterly naff.

All that setup for 90 minutes and they leave you not knowing who Negan kills.....

I skipped the first hour and just watched the ending. Doesn't look like I missed much other than a Carol/Morgan love fest. Once again though Andrew Lincoln delivered an extremely poorly acted, over-wrought performance. I mean, he didn't even have any lines in the last 10 minutes of the show but still managed to be laughably bad.

I was wondering why Rick didn't volunteer to take the beating as the de facto leader. He's put himself in harm's way before and it wouldn't be out of character for him. Instead, he sat there shaking like a little girl.

The writing is horribly inconsistent.

This was the bad acting I was talking about by Andrew Lincoln. His whole confused "I can't believe this is happening!" expression was too much. Sure I expect the character to be surprised by the situation but to just clam up and shake was stupid.

And the writers now expect us to believe that Rick is not only an idiot but also a coward. Yay.

The gang surrenders and Negan is captured and put in a cage. Then the two year time jump occurs where we see Alexandria and the other communities all rebuilt, prosperous and with effective defenses and dealing with the walkers.
