X-Files Reboot Trailer

I'm going against the grain on this one and say it looks interesting and has potential. I like the direction they're hinting and that they aren't pretending nothing happened before this. I'm gonna reserve my judgment and give it a try. :D
right

they do not even have to consider "nothing happened before" since it is a continuation of TOS xfiles and NOT a reboot

it will also only be around for 6 eps and done (for now at least)

This girl shared your "unbridled optimism" towards all things ridiculous. Long story short, the governor never called with a last minute reprieve and the state of Alabama proceeded to run 3000 volts of electricity through her young, yet highly annoying body at midnight on March 3rd, 1962. There were no friends or family present at her passing as her "can do" attitude had irritated them all to the point of alienation. Her remains were interred in an unmarked prison grave -- well actually, only the parts of her that were too charred for the guard dogs to consume. But hey, if you wanna follow in her footsteps then more power to you, brother. :)

No, no...no. EVERYBODY knows that is Susan (or is it Sharon?) from The Parent Trap. I have pushed that Pollyanna movie out of my mind like a splinter. :P

a few standalone, and a few from the original arc of the x-files. This is better than the trailer though but still feels like it's not really worth bringing back to life.

a "professional" review of S10,Ep1

seems that Duchovny and Anderson do a good job at their roles

also seems-to this reviewer, that the show has lost it's spark -or is it rather, that so much other "Stuff" in this genre or near to it, has been put on air since x-files that it just "seems" that this continuation lacks sparkle? Have all the Xfiles wannabee/copies diluted our perspective of the field? That's my opinion at least (until i see the ep)

In the end both David and Gillian were paid a lot of money to make this happen.

It jumps right back into the whole alien/conspiracy stuff. I'm more interested in the episodes that deal with earth-based weirdness.

I suspected as much. If you saw the video I posted above, you'll see that there are a few standalone episodes which is what I think you are after. It did really well in the ratings though.

For many years now, networks have used the Super Bowl as a lead-in for heavily promoted new shows and the return of fan favorites – or in this year’s case, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert – but everyone is slowly getting wise to adopting that same strategy using the NFL’s playoff and championship games to frontload the potential ratings. Sunday night’s NFC Championship was about as one-sided as games get, but the telecast’s huge audience helped to give the X-Files revival premiere the kind of ratings that probably inspired a massive sigh of relief at Fox.

Though the numbers aren’t set in stone just yet, preliminary results are showing that the first installment of The X-Files miniseries, dubbed “My Struggle,” was watched by nearly 13.47 million people, making it one of Fox’s most impressive debuts in ages. (It definitely spanked the pants off of all the 2015 premieres, including Empire,Rosewood, Scream Queens and Wayward Pines.) The episode also topped everything else on broadcast TV last night that didn’t involve the Arizona Cardinals getting pummeled by the Carolina Panthers, with only the two hours of 60 Minutescoming anywhere close.

Not a bad start, even though the actors seem exhausted. I was laffing for about half-an-hour waiting for "Scully's" accent to arrive.

I think Carter was jealous of the 'LOST people' borrowing some of his earlier nuances. Mulder is not the "believer" anymore, but a real man of faith, according to one of the monologues.

"They are coming", the internet viewers at least, back to the "X-Files". Apparently 20 million people viewed the premiere episodes on-line. Does that translate to real viewers and future episodes? Who knows at this point?

According to scuttle-but the first two epies were the worst, so there is just a chance I might still see some "golden" TV.

There was a running gag in the first seasons where a Mr. Tall FBI man and a Ms. Short FBI woman would make an appearance, whereby they would try and remind the viewers about the height differences that Mulder and Scully had to suffer through. So far nothing yet, but a new set of FBI agents are to be introduced. Maybe they might throw that reference at the faithful viewers on the very last episode in this series of shows.

Another week and some cheeky if not perverse performances. With the man in the seersucker white suit surely must of referenced 'Kolchak- The Night Stalker'.

I was wondering if Kim Manners, the recently dead, as of 2009, deserved a shout-out? They did that and more by mentioning both Manners and the departed Jack Hardy who both probably worked on the other two series - Harsh Realm and Millenium. Surely, if Manners was still alive today then he would of probably written and directed one of these episodes.

Queequeg, Scully's long dead dog, made an appearance -sort of. The big Easter Egg of the night was probably the tombstone belonging to Kim Manners. Alex Diakum, the time-traveler in the Outer Limits episodes, made his fourth or fifth visit to the X-File set.

By the time all of these episodes have been broadcast we will realize that Mulder's belief system has been so reinvigorated that there will be enough strength for him to solve at least one more case.

I thought this episode really didn't work. They were trying way too hard to be quirky and cute and clever and funny. It was very forced writing. Had they been more subtle with the lizard/seersucker guy instead of being so wacky it would have played much better.

the point-imo-of the ep was to sum up-to "capture" all of those old "wacky" episodes into one for a bit of comedy

and, Mulder got his personal 'sighting' of a paranormal, terrestrial creature

so far, it seems that each episode has been written in a way to encapsulate a bit of the sub genres of what the x-files had. put those ideas and stories into one final ep.

i think that the self deprecation was part of the idea

Meh, I thought this episode was basically a live-action cartoon. And since my life often resembles a live-action cartoon I prefer not to spend time watching them on TV. :P
