Suddenly, the perspective of my original review of the premiere escapes me.

I was going to write a review on the premiere, and will still probably do so. But I was a bit put off by episode two on several fronts. I dont like the way they are inserting "the soul" thing into this series as though it represents all of Humanity. I think that the show risks becoming Christ-centric in its view of what the soul is supposed to be. For spiritual (non-religious) people, this is somewhat offensive. On the second front was the depiction of Valerie's parents at the funeral. They were BOTH black. Val was obviously mixed race (Lourdes Benedicto is half Filipina half Dominican). The parents shown at the funeral could not have had a child that looked like Val. Why didnt they just have her parents be a mixed couple? I viewed Ryan and Val as a mixed couple from the beginning, but obviously the showrunners did not. Interesting, but not enough of an issue to turn me off the show or any characters.

Then, there is the issue with Hobbes and Marcus...why wasnt the dangling thread resolved from last season where Hobbes gave Marcus Parker's research? What was the research? Where is Parker (Paul McGillion)? Im glad that Malik has been exposed as a V, but I dont like the way they are making Ryan seem untrustworthy. All and all, I am still in love with this show! :)

Diana...

Diana deserves her own paragraph. :) I love the way she was brought into the series, and the dynamic she has established with Anna taking power from her because of the emotions, and Lisa being a threat in the future. Diana adds balance to the leadership caste we have already seen. I felt that the Captains of the 29 ships seemed too GQ/Vogue for my taste, and Diana brings in some classic beauty IMO. I also dont like the cruelty that Anna is showing towards her mother. Do they have to show Anna slapping her to the ground or trying to force emmolation pills down her throat? Isnt Diana also a V? Doesnt she also have a tail?

Anyways, I will write the review before next Tuesday for the premiere, and perhaps somebody will write a review of episode 2.:)

My comment regarding this episode: Meh. I really don't like this storyline about the soul, which for some reason seems to be located in Diana's boobs. Can't scientific minded lizards such as Anna just realize that human emotion stems from the brain's neurochemical processes, and not mommy's cleavage? I am really on the fence about continuing to watch the show because the plot arc is getting really dumb. Sure, I've watched other shows with bad plot arcs, but that was because the characters brought me back, or because it was done in a tounge-in-cheek fashion, but V has none of that. I think I'll give it a few more episodes anyway. At least until Chuck starts back up.

Also, the ratings for this week aren't looking very good for V or No Ordinary Family. Hell, a rerun of Glee got a better 18-49 rating than a brand new episode of NOF.

Boomer who looks exactly like Athena had knocked Athena unconscious and hid her in a toilet stall. However just as Boomer is about to leave, Helo (Athena's husband) arrives and thinks that she's Athena and wants to have sex with her before she leaves for a mission, and she has to go through with it because she doesn't want him to suspect that she isn't who she says she is. So they have sex, but then Athena stirs awake, unable to move or anything, but the door to the toilet stall is open by a little crack, so she gets a front row seat of watching her husband have sex with someone else, just before her daughter is kidnapped by the same gal who is sexing up her husband.

yes that sounds pretty, terrible imo. I have not watched BSG and this does not encourage me to try it out. Thanks for explaining it for me :)

I'm not seeing the issue with the "soul" element of the plot. Basically the Visitors are trying to get to the source of what makes humans human, and calling it the "soul" is as good a term as any. The irony (and what Diana is trying to tell Anna) is that what she is attempting can never ultimately succeed. She may indeed physically breed Visitors on Earth using humans as "parents", but those Visitors will wind up not being controllable through the Bliss (as apparently some Visitors are now).

I suspect the next thing we are going to learn is why the Visitors are covering themselves with the human "bioskin" which apparently (unlike the original series) they cannot readily remove. I also expect that the deal with Marcus from S1 will reemerge soon.

A pretty good epi tonight, got to see a V partly 'skinned' then killed :) Then the reporters eyes where fully opened to the 5th column and the V's. How far will Ryan's betrayal to the group go to save his daughter?

I know Festivus is over, but I've got a few grievances...

I'm just not feeling the "Soul" thing. I mean, c'mon, what's really going to come of this? The machine is really going to drain thir souls? C'mon... I would have skipped this storyline.

It's bugging me that Diana is simply window dressing, in scenes either sitting down or walking three feet and then standing in place. In a red fancy dress. Doing nothing else. Please give her something else to do! She was an unbelieveable BITCH on the original series! Let her get her bitch on, dammit!!

The story feels a little jerky in spots, but having said that, I'm glad that it's not dragging ass with filler scene after filler scene. Happy to see a V get skinned!

No, the machine was a "scientific" attempt by Anna to strip away everything else, with the idea that what remains has to be the "soul", which they can then determine how to destroy/remove. I think you're missing the underlying plot element here - Anna is on a fool's errand. Diana warned her and she won't listen - she cannot do what she is thinking and remove the soul because it is an integral component of human beings (what makes us human). Note what her efforts are doing to her own daughter - to say Lisa is in turmoil is to say little.

And based on the previews, it looks like Diana will be getting more frisky next week. And at some point Anna has to "deal" with Diana in a permanent manner, as Diana can (by publicly revealing her existence) wreak total havoc on Anna's ability to rule.

Goodbye...

After watching the first two episodes of season 2 I have realized that there is really no point of me watching V anymore. Anna and Lisa, the two moderately interesting characters are not enough to carry the show for me when I have lost all interest in the plot. I honestly don't care anymore, and I don't see any good reason to continue watching the show. Anyway, good luck to the V fans, for your sake I hope the show is renewed, but this is just my time to leave.

That's the way I felt with SGU

At some point, you know it's not your cup of tea, so you just have to walk away. Luckily for me, it doesn't cause me to want to scratch my eyeballs out like SGU did, so I can hang in there. It's not the greatest, but it does seem to have something to build in. Let's just hope it does!

Indeed. Well, of course I don't agree with you about SGU. The show wasn't close to perfect, it had lot of flaws, but in my opinion there were more good parts than bad. But that is to be expected since the Stargate writers are only capable of writing mostly decent television, with a few gems, but nothing fantastic of mind-blowing.
I can't say that I have ever watched a show that has made me want to scratch my eyes out, except for possibly Flash Gordon. *shudder* I don't even think V is bad, it just bores me now. I'm just indifferent towards it.

No way. If we're talking about the reboot on SciFi a few years ago, you're absolutely wrong about this. If you watched Flash Gordon while you were high, or at LEAST had a contact high, it was the funniest frickking thing ever!!!!!

You just have to know the right show watching procedure. I dare anyone to tell me that FG wasn't meant to be watched "enlightened"...

Yeah, that was probably my mistake, I watched it completely sober. The only show I've watched high is classic Doctor Who. Man that show had some trippy episodes back then. :D There was also a show which used very strong colors with an oversaturated picture and a very confusing plot that I enjoyed watching. Though I don't remember the name. It was probably a Swedish show...

Also, the Transformers movie is fun while being high as well. It's CGI porn with a plot that's all over the place. The perfect blend for a show to watch while high. :D

Yeah, sorry I'm not seeing it. V was just going from another ridiculous plot to another with all the talk about love and the soul and blah blah blah. I'll just stick to rewatching the original.

 Meh, I guess this hopeless cynic just don't buy into the whole soul thing.

Or are you being sarcastic? It's hard to tell over the internet.

So? I don't reply like that and I never have. You're probably confusing me with someone else, like you have before. But I don't expect you to act fair towards me since you mentioned me as flaming Atlantis or something like that (I don't really remember what it was) in a thread at GW when I had only mad two posts in the thread, and those were off topic.

Rac was just imitating your typical SGU squeedrone.

Hey, if you don't care for V that's cool - we are all different and like different things. On my part, I like the whole soul and DNA blending storyline as it is (to me) a better plot device for why they are here. It allows more and different subplots than the old (here to eat us) plot allowed for.

I chipped in partly to highlight the aspect of the plot some were missing, that Anna's plan is a fool's errand (which Diana warned her about). I'm expecting in the next couple of episodes we'll discover why the Visitors add humanoid bioskin to themselves, especially in light of the fact that once applied they cannot remove it without dying.

And isn't that a change from the original series? I remember lots of V's getting their skin torn or scratched away. I can't remember if the entire skinning killed them or not.

major change from the original miss, the original has the "skin" be merely make-up...completely fake. I find this new twist intriguing.

thanks joelist- nice to know someone got it....the squeedrones just don't "see them selves" in my sarcasm.
