The helms Bakery truck...hot donuts, fresh baked bread and rolls, cakes and made-to-order items (with an order given to him the day before). The truck had a distinctive horn sound and was always a welcome sight.

And of course, there was the Milk Man (each state had their brands). Fresh from the closest farms and delivered in the same glass bottles.

He left milk at your doorstep and a few kids in the neighborhood. :icon_lol:

A-ki-ta! :) And those are the REAL deal before there were implants. :joy: Luana was awesome. The only word that I kept hearing was "a-ki-ta".

Boomers were the ORIGINAL preppers. Our fear was atomic war, Communism and "pinkos" (Libertarians and Socialists). It was the Cold War and it built today's Military Industrial Complex.
and it was a very real threat...maybe.

Fallout shelters for homes (we did not have one of these, but neighbors did).

Russia was always a threat. They were unpredictable and evil and they were Communists! And we were taught this in school......

The first digital watch was a Hamilton/Pulsar project, and it cost $2100.00 in 1972. Owning one was like owning a Rolex. Less than 10 years later, the standardized chip with the clock program became so cheap that you could buy a watch with the identical features and display for $10.00. Today, you can find them in Big Lots for about $2.00 each.
