I am trying to see the hype surrounding netflix. Apart from being an overvalued shares, I don't see the content it has. Sure it's market share is over 104 million customers, but it owes an enormous amount of money for content. Then I see movies like this and orange is the new black. They may appeal to a demographic, but in terms of quality content, I don't see the appeal.

Just note though, netflix spent 100 million dollars on this piece of crap. We could have gotten a brilliant series with that kind of money. They wasted it all on this and paying will smith a lot of money to be in it. I don't know, but that is just foolish. This company the more I look at it, the more it's looking like a dotcom bubble just waiting to happen. Their business model seems unstable and unsustainable.

It looks like a low rent version of Shadowrun without the cyberpunk.

I was one of the early cheerleaders for Netflix. I had it for a few years, then when they started massively taking entire studio catalogs off (hi Disney), the content was nothing but garbage. I watched all of what was good and then cancelled November of 2014. I went back recently for 30 days because I became eligible again, but I saw nothing I wanted to see. Without Sense8, nothing new interested me.

I have Amazon Prime now on a monthly service, and it feels more like Netflix used to be.

Netflix has become a dumping ground for a lot of garbage that was thrown in the trashbin by big companies, but because netflix has shareholder's cash to burn as well as the subscribers, they are risking it and just saying, meh, not our money. Whereas big studios had to secure loans/use their funds - hoping to get a significant return on investment. This is why I am not risking my money on buying netflix. Given that it's the internet, they can simply pull the plug at will, and disappear without a trace.

You won't have possession of the content you watch, ever. Streaming should be a side option for people but then again, this is where everything is moving, until idiots start to realize where this is going. It's only when people start to realize that they are being controlled toyed around that at any moment their favourite tv series could disappear forever and rewatchability will be extremely difficult. Protesting online is also extremely difficult to penetrate through because they can just go in the spam folder. I don't know, but I don't see the big hype surrounding streaming. I see it as a side option rather than a true experience. Just my 2 cents on this. We saw that despite our anger, they decided to pull the plug on many projects and go ahead with many lame projects(Star Trek Discovery being a prime example).

There are people out there that will watch anything and I mean anything, which is why MTV is still god damn around and that shit gets crazy viewership and the same reason why soap operas are still around.

Look at Debt to equity ratio for Netflix. It's creeping up and up quite fast.
    https://ycharts.com/companies/NFLX/debt_equity_ratio

To break this down to those that don't know. It just means that for every dollar that netflix has, it owes $1.50 in loans excluding interest.

Netflix streaming service is abysmal. It's also insulting. They think we won't notice that they have packed their offerings with Bollywood nonsense and B-movies from foreign language countries? I won't watch English language crap so what makes them think I'm going to work at reading subtitles for foreign language crap? "Oh look, it's a faux scifi movie with horrendously bad CGI starring a bunch of untrained Euro trash actors who should really be working in the uranium mines of the Ukraine instead of floundering about in front of an inept director's camera. Sure, I'll watch that!"

I like using it for my binge watching of older shows that are still watchable. My latest one is Blue Bloods. I had also tried out 30 Rock. I hope to find a few more. I find their original series to be hit and miss. Sense 8 and House of Cards rock, but some of the others were disappointing.

Daredevil on Netflix is worth watching. It's very good. Unfortunately they take forever between seasons which really sucks. The sister shows Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron First are pretty bad though. The quality on them is shit. What sucks is that they are using those characters to make The Defenders (or something stupid like that, don't know, don't care). We don't need some lame ass group show. We don't need three bad shows of poorly developed characters that aren't super heroes (Luke Cage is okay, but not worth an entire series. And Jessica Jones is a complete waste. She's a dirty, drunken slag who no doubt has crotch rot. She's disgusting, a total turn off. Get rid of the nasty bitch.). We just need more Daredevil. That's it. That's all we freakin' need! Netflix really needs to get its head out of its ass and stop wasting time and money on bullshit we don't want!

That. Im not paying for that, sorry! Right now, I am seeing Amazon Prime Video as a better deal than Netflix at $12.00/mo. All the Star Trek shows are on there, the shows allow you to binge watch easily with autoplay for the next episode, no lame "Continue Watching?" like Netflix does. Uh, did I SAY that I did not want to watch any more? Amazon allows me to make playlists and rate stuff I have watched. For me, Netflix is no longer worth my time.

Well, that's what the market wants and that's what they'll get. A lot of the people in the western world want to go see foreign movies because it gives them a different viewpoint but not all foreign movies are bad, but a lot of the content does not make me want to care or give that interesting factor. It's just boring.

Like this series. It looks like elysium to me but the series...is...meh............

I think a lot of the problem stems from the Netflix purging of a couple years ago when they lost a lot of content over licensing, etc. They suddenly had this giant hole in their library and panicked and filled it with whatever cheap foreign shit they could get for a song. Seriously, this shit has to cost them nothing to host. And what's worse is that they lump all this foreign crap in every category and try to make it look like it's an English language film, which many people find frustrating. I, personally, don't mind reading subtitles but a lot of people I know simply refuse to do so, which limits movie night.

Incidentally, I recently saw a Danish zombie film on Netflix which, while low budget, was actually pretty good (although the ending was unsatisfying). I'm open to watching foreign language films but Netflix needs to be more honest about that up front. It bugs a lot of people to have to surf thru scads and scads of stuff they are never going to watch just to find something worthwhile.

Well, guess what? Disney are pulling the plug on titles on Netflix and they've started their own streaming service, so expect more Bgrade foreign crap coming netflix way which is going to make it a more mediocre service.

This is just going to add more confusion/chaos/annoyance/inconvenience and people resorting to piracy to get what they want.

At some point in the future I'll probably drop Netflix in favor of a more comprehensive service. The writing is on the wall and unless Netflix radically changes its game for the better a lot of people will be walking away. There's simply no reason to waste money on a service that provides nothing but mediocre and sub-par programming. Additionally, I think they fail more than they succeed at original programming. They are spending a shitload on producing a ton of shows that just aren't that compelling. If they can make this business model work for them then more power to them. But for me, as a paying client, it's not working.

I agree. The only reason why many turned to netflix was because they could access Hollywood content/cheaper more convenient but since now those studios are abandoning Netflix, they are trying to find their footing.

If you looks like their long term strategy I don't feel will pay off when it comes to quality entertainment. Netflix will be here for another 10 years but after that, I don't know. The company will grow at moving to China/India which will make it a shit load of money but they'll buy some B grade low budget crap and will continue to shove that in America's face because it's 'different'. They are remaking japanese anime to try and create an audience. I don't know but that won't work.

Here is one series I want to come back but won't.

It's invisible man. A light sci-fi show but it was funny and light hearted. Too bad Syfy cancelled it.

WTF? This is a list of all the garbage from Netflix. Who the hell is going to watch this? Netflix is for adults. Besides, that this looks like it was written by someone who beat their head with a bat. Absolutely dumb and so cheesy. The animation alone looks completely fucked up.
