Sense8, is it coming back or not?

This trailer for Season 2 is on YouTube, but there are rumors that Netflix has already canceled it:

Unlike the cable shows, Netflix for not rely on ratings or advertising dollars to produce anything. They either do or don't, and who knows what sort of Netflix voodoo they use to decide. Here is an interesting article on GameNGuide which talks about a new chareacter in the show and other "upcoming" stuff.

http://www.gamenguide.com/articles/...in-on-the-rise-love-will-destroy-them-all.htm

But here is a newer article on the movienewsguide.com which says the show may have already been cancelled:

http://www.movienewsguide.com/sense8-season-2-updates-mean-end-road-show/274584

If it has not been canceled, then it will premiere Season 2 in January of 2017. Fingers crossed!

Looks extremely violent and personally I can no longer stomach watching such things at all anymore.

I agree on the violence thing. I refuse to watch anything that portrays or glamorizes psychotic or sociopathic behaviors or senseless bloody violence or criminals. That is why I could never watch Hannibal, Dexter, American Sniper, Hostel, Saw, etc. I find ZERO entertainment in such things. This also includes Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy and any of those gang type movies and TV shows. Why? I don't need that garbage in my head. But Sense8 is none of those things.

Yup, for the same reason I could never watch those shows or movies and I am just stating my opinion based on the youtube video. I get an uncomfortable feeling whenever I watch such trailer and I have to force myself to watch something happy or music to get it out of my head.

that trailer is misleading

perhaps they ARE TRYING to entice those fans of the gore shows to watch?

if there is anything "offensive" in the show, it may be the sex

in s1 they mostly used sex to demonstrate abilities--like the orgy scene showed us,and them, that they could use their abilities to have a kind of sex with one another
<<the "christmas special" 2hr movie just has pointless sex--if you have never watched S1-don't watch this first or you will never like the actual show>>

ok-go for it-but it is not the sense8 we all loved and enjoyed-it is a hollow shell of the show

i am pretty sure you will be very disappointed

there is no advancement of the plot, no more info on the org tracking down the sensates, just sex and social commentary

the more i think about it, the more it does seem to have been nothing more then editing scraps with a "holiday ending" added on

WOW. First of all, I find it amazing that two people can watch something and see and understand something completely differently! I actually LOVED this. It was not too violent, and felt like any of the other Sense8 episodes, only it did not fit into the main storyline in any meaningful way. In fact, it seemed to be out of order, and could easily have passed for episode 6. The original storyline ha not been advanced, no. But the replacement Cephaeus works VERY well, and Lito being out of show business is a good thing.

The orgy scene was much more involved and all of the characters were in it (unlike the first orgy). It was done more artistically. I thought the humor was good in it, and the action well balanced. I do not understand why the drugs have been introduced, and I want Sun out of prison.

I am glad I watched it!

Then, I am not interested if all they have is nothing but sex in season 1 there is the internet and porn website if you want to watch couples having sex with each other.

I'll pass if it has that then it looks like another GOT to entice fans to watch it by having sex and nude scenes. I might give "Community" a try I am not sure if that's any good or not.

Sex is not the centerpiece in this at all. It is mostly all about celebration and sharing. It's a Christmas special without really being about Christmas. The theme is giving and sharing. Trust me on this, cause you KNOW how picky I am. :)

that is mainly what i am saying just a bit crueler and less forgiving about it!

i expect a higher standard from this show after S1! :)

ex: in S1- the sex was mainly done to show how their connections could work; same for most of the violence-like how Sun would flash in and help out Capheus or the German
it all had meaning and an exposition value

this special just had that stuff in there for no reason

and again-some sloppiness in plot continuity-like when the two San Fran girls hid in wall because of the cops; they leave in broad daylight, and take their time, in full view of everyone knowing that the place is still being watched. didn't jibe with the seemingly needed urgency to keep hidden and get moved somewhere safe.

i really do think that this was something put together to get out there to dispel rumors of production and casting problems, etc

if they were ready to go, then why do we need wait until May for S2?

Sense8 has been cancelled. :(

“After 23 episodes, 16 cities and 13 countries, the story of the Sense8 cluster is coming to an end," Cindy Holland, vice president of original content for Netflix, said in a statement. "It is everything we and the fans dreamed it would be: bold, emotional, stunning, kick ass, and outright unforgettable. Never has there been a more truly global show with an equally diverse and international cast and crew, which is only mirrored by the connected community of deeply passionate fans all around the world. We thank Lana [Wachowski], Lilly [Wachowski], Joe [Michael Straczynski] and Grant [Hill] for their vision, and the entire cast and crew for their craftsmanship and commitment."

If that description is true why was it cancelled after a season two that almost didn't happen?

I think because...almost 10 MILLION per episode. No TV show should cost that much. Why shoot in ACTUAL Africa, Finland, Spain, Korea, etc.? Why would it cost that much for a 100% b-c list cast???

Simply put not enough on the return of investment. The time wasted outweigh the rewards. This is hard to stomach but when you have a growing audience that is thirsty for content and quality content, it gets harder to beat or match that benchmark they set.

Because they are trying to distinguish themselves from traditional TV. Make it grander when it really defeats the purpose.Netflix is still running at breakeven and has not been able to produce any profits yet but when a company gets as big as netflix, it also can't forget that everything costs money and that it needs to take calculated risks. In the beginning netflix could afford to take bigger risks, but now those risks are going to prove costlier. The same thing applies to most things in life and even Hollywood. Hollywood is obsessed with sequels because the audience are demanding it and now it's about reboots from the 90s, then it will be from the 80s then the 70s and then the 60s and 50s and then soon we will be getting reboots from 00s.

Very well put and exactly true. I think that for what we got, 10 million per episode is more than a bit much. We are talking about setting up production in 16 ACTUAL countries, when they could have not needed to do that at all. Iceland? Really? I think a large part of it was not just artistry, but money grab. I can't blame them though. I really liked the show.

Now me, I haven't completely liked any of the Netflix shows. Also I do concur that they are WAY overspending on them, and taken in tandem with the exodus of video properties from Netflix so that outside of their original shows their catalog is pretty poor I can see where they are getting into trouble.

Their top two most popular cost way less to make. Netflix gets licensing revenue much like HBO does for licensing cable stations to air their products. Sense8 had a sophisticated audience. Appeal was limited.

That is a lot but game of throne is 10 million dollars too. Apparently crappy friends also costs that much which is and never was a funny show.

Then there is the crown which apparently 13 million for netflix. I don't know about you but there is no need to spend an obscene amount of money like this to make a show. It looks so boring...................How does this piece of crap cost 13 million dollars per episode?
