Your avatar perfectly describes my response. My guess is they have nothing lined else up so they decied to give this show another shot.OMFG why?
Defiance Season 2 averaged 2.7 million viewers and 1.2 million adults 18-49 on Thursday nights, with seven days worth of DVR playback factored in.

Like I said above, I think they didn't have any other show to fill in so they are giving this a greenlit. What's sad is that we lost SGA and star trek enterprise which got better ratings than this crap. How did this happen? The showrunners have found a new loophole (from your link):
How is that "DVR playback" determined? Is it a weighed average based upon assumed viewership? Im LMAO...Do, I have to find a way to indicate number of balls without actually having to put that many in the awards. AND, I lost the poll voting.

Correct.7day ratings are a standard part of the product delivered by the ratings companies to the networks.

For Defiance they probably need to save face after plunging $100 million into the game and show. For Dominion I suspect it is just that they needed to be able to say SOMETHING was successful.
Not to make Defiance sound good, but it did seem to find a sort of footing this last season. The biggest outstanding issue is lack of any explanation of the world the show is set in. Hopefully they dedicate the first part of the next season to that. Really, if we had actually been shown or at least told in a more detailed manner how the world changed to its current state and also if they would just tell us and show us more of the current structure of the world the show would work better.
What? The opening credits aren't good enough for you? Pfffffff ... some people!
Does this mean SGU is coming back?
