[Overmind One]

Okay, for those of you who are watching Defiance and hating it (or loving it), we have an opportunity to have some great fun. The show is guaranteed two years, and who knows...it might eek out a third season. Doubtful, but possible. I have committed to watching every episode until it is cancelled. To me, this feels like SGUS all over again.

The rules will have to be more....relaxed, of course. There will likely be new members coming back to speak in favor of the show, and others to chime in.

Looking for ideas! Should this be a completely different site, or should it be a public association with GateFans (eg: brought to you by GateFans)? I see its lifetime as being two years, so this is not a long term website we will be building. Like SGUS was.

I am in the process of setting up the hosting as I write this. I have purchased two years registration and two years of hosting space. Within 3 hours, there will be a parking page with Defiance Sucks there, and I will start preparing the forums. They will be vBulletin 4, since I have two unused registered licenses. This weekend, major work can be done.

OMNI...where are you? I have some work for you again...(paid, of course).

I just bought a hatchling plan at HostGator for this site, and I have them on the phone right now setting up some shit for me. We need a Council over there...but this is SciphonicStranger's idea...he is automatically in if he wants it!

Not really...Atlantis4Life ran it like a gestapo on the rear end. Also, I think he did a horrible job selecting moderators and playing favorites. Can this Council be accused of that here? I dont think so. Since people from here will be on the Council, it will be not quite as lax as SGUS in some respects, but in all respects it will be different than GateFans.

A Council is needed to glue together the Moderators which are needed to keep threads clean of porn, ads, spam and trolls. At least an Admin, but frankly, I am just too busy, and I think I a too oipinionated to take charge of a site like that alone. Not my style. All Council members will be able to verify that I am fair and do not take a "boss" role here.

When the show does end up being cancelled, I don't think a lot of people will miss it.
With SGU it was a different story. Many people "forced" themselves to like SGU because it has the word stargate in it. Not only that but stargate also has a massive fanbase behind it and it was only natural for the reactions we saw. It was the end of to 17 seasons of stargate. This show has got only 11 episodes so there isn't much to show. Whereas with Stargate, it had over 300 episodes.

Since DEFIANCE is a "new" concept () there won't be as much to dissect compared to SGU which had the Stargate storyline and built in fan base (as H has properly pointed out). But I think focusing on the gaming aspect will be a good part of the forums.

At any rate, even if it's a small site it should make for some fun times. Besides, I've been dying to let my inner ape out in terms of profanity laced rants.

The reason I suggested not linking them directly is that the other one may be a free for all, filled with foul, harsh language in open forum. A free for all, as Joe put it.
