thats why its called heavy metal. as a rock/metal fan, i do not want music that is danceable!

if someone is into babymetal or ANY rock band for the visuals then they ARE NOT real fans

are these americans then creeps for having them open for them on their tours?

red hot chili peppers, metallica and even (gasp, yuck) lady gaga

red hot's on stage with babymetal

Well at this point in their careers (not Lady Gaga), Red Hot Chili Peppers and Metallica are going to benefit from an influx of fans of this Babymetal. In Japan, the audiences of Babymetal are Japanese teen males and females. But in America, their audience is mostly middle aged white males over 40 (which is the audience of Metallica and RHCP).

You don't find that unusual?

Those Japanese commenters completely miss the foreign (American) creep factor. The songs are all in Japanese, and yet I would assume that 99% of any Americans who like this band in America does not speak Japanese, and thus do not even know what the songs are about. That leaves only the visuals that are appealing to them, and all we can actually see are the crazy drummer (cool), and three little Japanese girls dressed in cute outfits. It does not matter if they are 20 years old, they look like they are 12 or 13 years old which to me is okay, only if you are also a teen. There should not be adult men drooling over these girls. :sulkiness: But here they are (this is in Dallas)...

Creeeeepy!

These Babymetal posts belong in the Musical Performances thread. :)

what is "creepy"? given the majority of U.S. rock fans are white males then there is nothing amiss about the demo of this crowd

it seems only you are looking at the girls ;)
:)

but forget about america

they have a great reception in many countries-- its about the music

check out crowd size, demo (male/female) and reaction

england

germany

mexico

the people who like stuff like Judas Priest and that type of rock are mainly those who like BM stuff as well, why Halford performed with them
(halford can STILL out high note a 19yr old girl btw)

if you are listening to music-any music- at that level of evaluation then 2 things:

1- you are definitely a S.T.E.M. person and

2- the music ceases to be entertainment and becomes a tedium or another form of work/stress/anxiety/concern, etc,etc

music should be about entertainment, distraction from daily life and all that other good stuff :)

You left out #3: I am a trained musician myself, and I listen to music as an art form. A fine art form.

I am the type of person who draws a hard distinction between pop "music" and musical competency required to play forms like jazz, classical, orchestral, baroque, folk and other forms requiring actual musical talent. Same as the difference between "modern art" made by throwing paint at a canvas as opposed to taking a brush and mixing colors to make actual images of recognizable things. This babymetal group is manufactured. There is no talent there.

no because as you point out, the audience demo for metal music of this type in the US is mainly men over 40

one of the babymetal fan sites on yt, with international members, has the avg international age, males and females, at 28

but, i challenge you to do this (i know you wont though..i have done it JUST to ask the question of the 'creep" issue/ dressing their age ,etc. i joined the fb group)

go on fb, join the/a babymetal fan group and question them. get some international input to your question

i dont think anyone, anywhere is claiming that baby metal is 'fine art"!!! thats pretty funny. why would anyone want to be 'fine art'?

"fine art" equate to most ppl as stuffy rooms with people putting on airs of supremacy and looking down their noses at others

like that vid someone posted on here about the woman in china teaching etiquette.. those are the kind of people that can keep their 'fine art'

no talent? ok, you go up on stage, sing live (as they do, as just about any rock metal band does if they want respect) play an instrument live and then we will talk talent

until then, we are all just critics

---and, might i add

your attraction to european classical music and 'fine art' aligns you in thought with the principles of hate and 'white race superior' concepts developed by and espoused by the very same people of that time.

you condemn one-- justly,as we all should--side of that culture and embrace the other

like going to a white pride/ hate rally in north georgia for the fried chicken

there are women there. its a rock/metal festival

the numbers of male/female audience members is about right to the numbers/ratio of rock/metal fans as a whole

and btw, the song i nthe video is about ending bullying.

many of the songs are about female empowerment (gimme chocolate/ megitsune) and standing up for your self seeing things to their end no mater how hard (karate)

lyrics are readily available at any google search

and overall. this started as me responding to tripler about t he pink thing doing a drum cover of a babymetal song. but now it is devolving into some kind of 'put me in the corner as a pedophile over 40 white male who only has one band he likes and its fronted by young women' kind of bs

they are just a very small part of the music i like and listen to that is very broad and spans decades. i listen to a lot rock (many sub genres) from the late 70's (of course kiss, jefferson starship, nugent, rainbow, etc) up to contemporary stuff. there is a lot of garbage in between and american rock/metal has been sucking bad lately. this is why i began cruising YT for foreign bands to begin with

in that search i found babymetal, volbeat, alien weaponry, leo morachioli and his covers, sepultura and many others

funny how you only choose to respond to the babymetal stuff that we have put up

It takes no talent to do what these little girls are doing, sorry! You can grab any three little girls, dress them in cute clothes and have them scream "gimme chocolate!". The drummer can play the drums, but I doubt he could slow it down and play behind a jazz orchestra or even a soft rock band. And somebody who makes their music by programming a computer program to play loops of actual music or repeat "drum" tracks made by programming a sequencer is never going to make it into Julliard. If you see that as musical snobbery, then so be it. A man has to have standards! You can be a beer can popper or a wine sipper. A 7-11 coffee buyer or a bean grinding connoisseur. There is a reason why Bach and Stevie Wonder and The Beatles are still played decades (even centuries) later, whilst throwaway bands are forgotten from one year to the next. 10 years from now, nobody will remember Babymetal. That, or as soon as those little girls start looking like women. :).

another issue with music is that too many people get caught up in visuals

that BS started in the 80's with produced music video

before that, there were some videos and they were mainly performance vids of bands on stage

then it came to 'no more ugly people in music' and MTV

music should always be about the music not the visuals

i dont like kiss because they wore/wear makeup. i dont despise lady gaga because she makes herself look like a made up trollup--her music sucks

Huh? This is not at all about you. This is about Babymetal. It jumped out at me because of what it represents. When Justin Beiber came out, droves of teen girls swooned over him and some teen gay males. Not middle aged women or older gay men. Michael Jackson drew fans from the very old to the very young, and from every ethnic and racial group. So did the Beatles. And it was the MUSIC that did it. In Michael Jackson's case and Elvis Presley, the dancing also was a huge entertainment factor. But this Babymetal thing has a fetish creep factor (in America) and it is obvious. Middle aged white males are climbing over themselves to come to these shows to watch three little girls who look like this:

BABYMETAL_1280-1024x768.jpg

None of them play guitar, sing exceptionally, or dance very well....so what is the draw? I can't think of any other group with the creep factor I get from this group.

:) I don't know why you keep trying to circle around to this angle. Nothing about the lives of these European classical artists has anything to do with race or white supremacy. Besides that, Beethoven may have been black :) None of the musical pieces from Bach or any of the others have any racial themes, and J.S. Bach himself was not part of any racialist movements. I have significant European heritage myself, so why would any of that be a problem? The National Anthem, however....

like i said, go into the 'domain' of the crazed (As in they like no other band but babymetal) and say this stuff and see what kind of response you get

it will get turned on you like you are the pedo and you have the issue JUST because you brought it up

i dont know about everyone, how could i? sure. maybe there are some weirdo out there, but they have alot more easier and accessible pickings then some band on youtube.

but i can tell you that i, and the people i know of/ read or watched interviews of who like babymetal like them for the music and the performance

as for their dress-- well that is old. they have dumped the poofy kawaii skirts and are now in some dark/goth get up whatever NOT WHY I listen!!

when i hear a BM or any song i like (and you know this since i spoke on the ph with you about playing the music in my car) i put it on either my ph or on a usb stick so i can listen in my car

no visuals involved there, just the music as it should be

and, AGAIN (!!!!) on the mid age men--name me one hard rock/metal band whose fan base is not mainly white men? unless it is some BON JOVI type attraction going on, women, by and large stay away from hard rock and metal

Nah, never gonna happen. :) But hey, I am done ranting on this group. I am not a metal fan, so I don't pretend to know much about it. I used to consider bands like Van Halen and AC DC and Metallica metal (which I like). But this new shit, speedmetal and deathmetal and the stuff with these super fast beats and crazy mosh pits and stuff is just not in the realm of my interests. I say let everyone enjoy what they enjoy!
