I'd love to see Joss Whedon take on the Star Wars franchise myself, since he actually manages to balance a good story and mystery with action, humor and a nice chunk of character development. But I fear that he might be too busy, what with the Avengers sequel, the S.H.I.E.L.D. tv series, and this whole creative consultant/producer gig he has for Marvel's entire film franchise.
Guess it depends on the tone they're going for. I don't know directors' style enough to know who'd be good. Seems like they have plenty of good content though. The guy that did those pirates movies might be decent, who knows.
To be honest, I'm not confident about this (should it turn out to be true). Oh sure, I enjoyed both Kick-Ass and X-Men: First Class, but I just don't think that Vaughn is the right man to handle Star Wars...
