Anybody checked out Syfy's "new forums"?

I wonder what the demographics are for participating members at Gateworld? From what you describe, it indicates largely female and probably between ages 20-40? Gamers tend to be male...just guessing here.

Action adventure gamers tend to male. Other types of games do not have a dominant gender.

I think I figured it out. :) Like all of the studios and most of the cable stations, Syfy has decided that social media is the best way to reach audiences (even though there has been no correlation between TV viewership and social media) On Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Google+, they can control content to some degree, plus they do not have to invest time in moderating. They have a "Social Media Marketing Director" (a V.P.) on staff now. Her name is Dana Ortiz and she is in New York (pulled a string!).

The idea is to shift focus from the web forum to the social platforms (which are also forums). Im not sure it will work, but that is how they are reaching out. Its how Dumb-onion is still getting around 1.5 million viewers. They can post screenshots, videos, etc.

And they are older women too...some over 50. :) It makes sense to me because games are so engaging. Who doesnt like having adventures and solving puzzles? I think some women are discovering that they can have more fun during idle time slaying dragons and being a heroine tasked to saving towns from destruction, than watching dumb soap operas. :)

Candy crush and bubble witch.

I assume you are discussing Mockingbirdgirl??

Shit, she doesn't rate a first thought, let alone a second.
