ooops GWX godawful wanker 10
... the mouse passover...
Sounds like a funky Jewish holiday.
Went to the darkest side and now have spy 10...
This is older but informative and a must do if you own spy 10.
Had to switch for gaming and a new build ... I know ... It does seem fast tho but my build is pretty quick also .
Dumped AMD and it only runs linux for now . I may put 7 back on the AMD system .
I am amazed that after every reboot or update that you have to re immunize windows every time with Spybot Anti -Beacon . There are 2 that keep turning back on and Beacon takes good care of the rest . Awesome program . I also use ExpressVpn . Another amazing program and I have that on every device in my house that I use . We can only try our best to keep some privacy in this day and age but it has become very difficult . Did you guys know that if I had gone into my bank account without shutting all this stuff off and using a vpn , microscum would see all my passwords and account info for my bank . Why would they have to have that info ? All my emails ? All my phone numbers ? No reason for them to have all my info unless I am applying for a friggin job there lol .
Good luck to all of us with this new spy10 os ...
PS ..holy crap it plays games well tho !!! My new build might be helping there a bit also . Fast on and fast off . Nice . Bit of a big learning curve with trying to find stuff tho . Made a shortcut icon to access this PC C drive and D drive . Why the hell was it in the files start link . That tells me nothing about finding drive C but there it is . Did they want to hide this from the lowly uneducated PC user with little experience with a windos OS ? ,,,uh yes ,,,For gamers we always have to have access to C drive or whatever drive your games are in to install addons and such . Steam does a lot now but not all addons are from Steam . jeepers

Windows 10 has been busted. Not only has Windows 10 been busted, but the recent updates adding telemetry to Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 have been exposed as well. The updates add the spying elements to Windows to allow the OS to scan and index all of your folders (private or not) and to send the data to Microsoft. First, lets pin down exactly what this means, so that those who think this is tinfoil hat nonsense will continue to read: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/servicesagreement/default.aspx
“We will access, disclose and preserve personal data, including your content (such as the content of your emails, other private communications or files in private folders), when we have a good faith belief that doing so is necessary to protect our customers or enforce the terms governing the use of the services".
Before going further, take a moment of silence to digest that. The reality is that if you run Windows 10 at all, there are no "private folders". This applies to Windows 7 and 8.1 if you have updates KB3075249 and KB3080149 installed.
KB3075249 “Update that adds telemetry points to consent.exe in Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 ”
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/3075249
KB3080149 “This update aligns down-level devices on the same UTC binary that’s released in Windows 10. This update would enable all the down-level devices to receive the software updates, design updates, and additional power and performance tuning.”
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/3080149
If you have these updates, uninstall them if you do not want to be spied on. You do not have the choice if you are running Windows 10 because you MUST accept all updates and they are automatic and cannot be turned off.
Easy fix. Seriously though, why are you being so paranoid? lol you out of all people should know that one of your communication has and was compromised at some stage. It's the same how someone would have glanced at your records, made a judgement when you spoke to them over the phone or someone got too curious and viewed your bank statements or your spending habits. Get used to it. Nothing is going to change. After turning these things off, Microsoft STILL collects and sends data to Microsoft every time you type a word into the search box on the desktop or ask Cortana for anything (because you cannot use Cortana without turning on the spyware). With ALL of those settings off, Windows 10 will still scan all folders (there are no more private folders), and disable/destroy pirated software or illegally downloaded music).
BY DEFAULT, everything bad about Windows 10 will be active from the very first login. Reading the EULA is a horror story and worded in such a way as to obfuscate what access it grants and what you are agreeing to when you use the software.
More arrogantly obtuse "features"
Wifi Sense - shares your wireless access with contacts without asking.
Windows Update will use your internet connection as a P2P node to deliver updates to you or other PCs not on your network.
More recommended settings to disable and why:

The point of this thread is to discourage people from using this blatantly intrusive and dishonestly created and distributed operating system. Microsoft is the BAD GUY in this, and there is no way to change that. When people install software, or a piece of hardware or buy a car, it should not be set to work against your privacy and your well being BY DEFAULT, even if you can fix it by changing settings.. The settings should be OFF by default.
I do not recommend this operating system AT ALL. The negatives outweigh the positives. Microsoft has had this problem with trust, and they have simply added more distrust to the already overwhelming perception. Windows 10 could kill Microsoft. Everyone who has upgraded to it that I know, has reverted to their previous OS. More than a few who had deleted the old OS to make room just decided to start over with a new install of the old OS. It's that bad. Enterprises are ignoring this OS like they ignored Windows 8 and 8.1.
To get a sample of what type of data is collected, one need only activate Family Settings and look at the report it generates on users it monitors.
When a for-profit company gives something away....

Well that was an ill-conceived comment! Windows 10 goes where no software has gone before. And yeah, me of all people understands what that means. It is intrusion like no other, and for you to dismiss it out of hand and not know the particulars is rather bold.Easy fix. I do value my privacy as well as others, but you got to be joking yourself if you think you can do anything to change anything.Well that was an ill-conceived comment! Perhaps you do not value your privacy as much as others? I can understand why people who do not mind being fully exposed to the NSA would not care. But for most Americans, the idea that everything being said, everything we do (camera), and everything we type, including passwords and chats to loved ones is private is a basic thing.
Dont ever call me paranoid again. Thanks. I get paid to secure systems from government prying, so it is a big deal evidently.

I am saying that you can't do anything to stop it. Everywhere you go, your information is being collected and it's only a matter of time before that system gets compromised. One thing is for sure, you have to be an idiot or some moron that tries to hack into a government database. Not joking at all. You are acting as though Windows is some sort of granite or unchangeable entity. In case you forgot, it is a product created by people like me, and others who write code and who develop subroutines and databases and other related software which makes up an operating system. I can and do change and adjust Windows based computers and servers and phones (as well as Macs and Linux), and entire networks with mixed devices FOR A LIVING. It's what I do.
Having said that, I have worked for years within the government sphere, as a contractor. I have worked with many others with other IT disciplines while working in those government jobs. What exactly are you saying here? It seems to me like you prefer to throw your hands up and do nothing. That is your choice, but it is not based in anything like what you are saying. There is PLENTY you can do about the spying and data collection, hence the other ideas in this thread.
I'm surprised at you! I did not take you for being a leaf. (leaf = blown around in the wind, there but powerless).

You can thank your conservative friends for all the silly PC style laws/surveillance. You think that by taking a stance is going to change anything? Nope. Just wasting precious time after this.
