If you were about to send some change Nathan Fillion's way so he could buy the rights to Firefly, better put it back in your pocket, because the former Capt. "Mal" Reynolds would rather you keep the money for yourself.

Well, if anything it shows that there are some very loyal fans out there. I think it's a bit dubious to just send money to someone to produce a movie. Contributions for a financial endeavor such as that would have to be set up in a very structured manner. Just sending an actor a check in the hopes he'll get a movie green lit is a bit naive though.

People (non-showbiz-types), generous and big-hearted as they may be, just don't get out expensive it is to produce a show. It's a common theme.

Kudos to Mr. Fillion for speaking out about this. The news outlets had been making hay on the subject.
