James Gandolfini, Dead at Age 51

He was apparently on vacation in Rome, and had just signed a deal with HBO for a new series. May he rest in peace.

I caught this news earlier and had texted OM1 about it. I think we're all in shock over this. Seems surreal that Tony Soprano is gone

James was one of those actors I feel had a wide acting range and could play just about any role effectively. However, I think he will be eternally and affectionately remembered for his greatest role as the anti-hero mob boss of the Soprano family.

Lots of speculation that smoking had a hand in his heart attack. Who knows if we'll ever know for sure though. My paternal grandfather, who I never met, died at about the same age as Gandolfini of a heart attack and he, also, was a smoker.

He'd had at least one heart attack in the past, as I recall. I'm assuming that his heart muscle just finally gave out. I feel terrible for his family at this time. It's got to be even more awful, since this has all happened so far away from home.
