Disney buying tickets in pre-sales for Rise of Skywalker? This is familiar.

Is Disney buying seats in theaters to falsely pump up pre-sales numbers for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker? Internet sleuths are revealing this practice, after seeing the exact same strategy used to pump up pre-sales for Solo: A Star Wars Story and Captain Marvel. This is not illegal, but it is a shady practice. We reported here that moviegoers were confronted with empty theaters for Captain Marvel, and many took photos which were shared widely on social media.

This time, savvy moviegoers were prepared for this trick. Already, Disney is bragging about how the pre-sales for this movie are higher than all other Star Wars films. However, this was also the case for Solo, and we all know how that turned out. Watch this video from Jeremy at The Quartering for some details.

It's hard to tell whether they are or not. The thing is that they are playing up the whole "end of the saga" angle to try to put people in seats to see how it will all end.

just count seats filled vs tickets sold, did they match with a acceptable margin of error? and, i dont think that disney or any company, buying tickets for their own films would use money from the same account that any real profit was collected in

i am not saying that they have not/are not doing it, just that if they were, it would be pretty apparent by the way the actual theatres are filled or not.

one of these doom and gloom, everything sucks Yt's should stand by a theatre door with a hand clicker and then do the math :)

Well, the most obvious of this practice was for Captain Marvel. People on Facebook and Twitter were snapping pics of opening night emptiness, and at least one theater owner said that Fandango had purchased the same 25 seats in EVERY showing of the day, and nobody came to fill those pre-bought seats. It was so widespread, even some Chinese were chiming in. The Captain Marvel ticket buying scandal is what primed TROS with fans suspicious of the latest Disney shill swill pumping pre-sales of ticket records, and fan "anticipation" of the movie. This, when Forbes and many other major media sites are already projecting lower box office. Check these out:

You have George Lucas Himself saying he is not a fan of Disney Star Wars, Mark Hamill throwing shade at it, and the fans dragging the latest trailer both in the UK and the US. China took the first trailer down after only two weeks! They really really need for this film to succeed, because it is the main anchor of Star Wars (the for-profit business it has become). It is what generates interest in Galaxy's Edge at Disney parks, Star Wars themed shows on TV, the Disney cruise ships, toys, so much merchandise..... SOMETHING made from Disney Star Wars needs to perform to save the brand they want to make money from.
