This is what happened when Brad Wright got the rights to steer Stargate into telivision. Any future Stargate ventures were precluded by his approval. Abrams is not going to let go of Trek anytime soon.

Strangely enough, the only fully licensed live action Trek outside of Abrams world is Phase II: http://phase2trek.com/home.html (as far as I know)

Now that I fully understand how truly powerful Queen Elizabeth is, I’m sure that she could sanction another live action television version of Star Trek with a wave of her crown jewels. Of course that would mean an all British cast replete with tea and crumpets but I guess we need to take what we can get.
