As you may have noticed I've been watching some cult movies of late (Lifeforce is a great example). Well, after Lifeforce and The Story of Ricky (which I highly recommend) I looked for something a bit less adult - and found a gem named Inframan!
Made by The Shaw Brothers back in the 80s, this is a Hong Kong style superhero flick. It features rubber monsters, hyperkinetic pacing and in a real way feels like a movie cartoon in the mode of Superfriends.
Now I should note the plot is completely naff and Inframan acquires whatever powers the plot needs him to in the moment. The acting is okay and like I said the pacing of this film is warp speed. But what makes it work so well is the sense of fun it just exudes - it is sort of like (as Brandon Tenold ably said) the cinematic version of eight year olds playing with toys.
Enjoy!
