Terminator 5

Interesting. I really wish that they would wrap up the Terminator timeline and close the loop. But that is unlikely since the rights were just sold to Pacificor (a freakin hedge fund company!) in 2011 for 29.5 million. Lionsgate (MGM) would have settled for the $15 million Sony was offering, but went for the Pacificor offer. :facepalm: This means they will stretch Terminator out for maximum ROI and it will drag out the story. They have to end up with Reese going back in time through the time displacement device, then they have to show us the other two terminators going back in time as well. They will have to tell the story of Katherine Brewster (did they mention her in T4?). She is the one who sends back the last terminator. I will not be waiting in front of a theater to see this.

Yes, Katherine Brewster was in T4.

Really they could wrap the whole thing in about 45 minutes of film if even that.

With brewster, are you talking about the female terminator from a movie or from SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES?

Couple of yrs ago I read that T4 takes place in the timeline before things "get real bad" for the human remnant. that after the SFran attack, the machines get pissed and really go to war.

So I am guessing that any flick will be way more violent then the previous.

LOL, I meant the last T800 terminator (Arnold), and the female terminator was in that one. They need to make it more gritty than T4. And the storyline with the sensitive terminator ruined it for me. The way they changed the nature of Skynet into a location, complete with offices and such. I need to watch it again. Was the Sarah Connor Chronicles any good after the 3rd episode? I stopped watching then. The female terminator in it was not all that.

I got from t4 that the 'terminator' (Marcus) was 'soft' because the machines who re-made him failed to erase his humanity (i also think that the writers were influenced by BSG 'skin jobs'-and they tried to get a 'lift' from that)

wouldn't any army of machines need a command hub? they would definitely need a manufacturing facility-yes?

I always liked the 'back story' bits. my favorite is on the t3 dvd in a cut scene. it has Arnold playing airforce sgt Candy with a twangy southern accent, they use him as the design for the t800. the voice is from the scrawny german scientist dude working on the project.

the rationale given for the airforce desire for unmanned systems "making war safer" is IMO, spot on to real life and the candy assed, low life, cowardly drones we use now. Life imitating art imitating life. Cowards in USAF blue sitting at the controls in New Mexico -as if playing a video game-and blasting innocent lives to bits in between bites from their donuts. Get done with their "combat" and head home to the wife and kids. And then their is the Navy and their "Unmanning the front lines" pitch. Sick

Come on man, how else are you gonna fit a minigun into a "family friendly" Terminator movie :D

Oh, come on, dude! What can let one's guard down more than a crying, weeping Terminator?

Now rumored that The Rock will be in T5 along with Schwarzenegger. It will be a sort of reboot-not totally ditching what has happened but more of a reboot in that skynet will try a different tact and go back even further in time. Seems some Lin guy will be directing.

:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

They need to just stop and let the story sleep for awhile.

This spells camp to me. They are going all Halloween with this. So are we going to be treated to B-movie sequels with Arnie and The Rock? :facepalm:. Seriously? The Rock???

Oh we're not hating on you for being the messenger, so don't think of it that way. We're just commenting on the subject itself. Personally I think the Terminator franchise needs to be flushed. They're just getting way too stupid with the whole thing, but that always seems to happen when they go beyond two films in a series -- they just keep getting dumber and dumber with each new movie.

May as well take it all the way and have male and female terminators (played by Britney Spears and Jack Black) fight it out...
