I actually like the concept art of these. Wonderful! Amazing stuff actually.

Pretty sure the klingons are fashioned after the creature from the Black Lagoon

I like the Communicator, and the phaser pistol. I don't like the ship designs, or the Klingons as envisioned by Roddenberry (because they never made it into production for a reason, even if because of budget). I still do not like any of the concepts of the Discovery or the Shenzhou because of where this show is (supposed to be) in the timeline. Federation ships as we know them, have nacelles on pylons, even if thick ones. There are no delta shaped "wings". The saucer section is NEVER concave. Why would you indent the top of the saucer section???
It's all style and drama over science and exploration. The tech and designs have no reason to evolve and no tech tree. What will be the range of the transporters? Why? What will be the power of the engines, and what will "Warp 1" mean in the Discovery timeline? How will they explain away THE Enterprise 1701 when it lives in this timeline with Discovery and the Shenzhou?
They got some of the props right, but the Klingons are still a HUUUUUUGE fail, as are the ships and all the interiors.
IN MY STUBBORN OPINION, of course!
The Klingons look ridiculous, like something you'd see in a Hellraiser movie. The Starfleet uniforms.....well the collar on the duty one is outright silly as is all the gold lame' everywhere on it. Then the boots with starfleet insignia and silver soles. Actually the away uniform looks like a better duty uniform. Basically, it all looks like the kind of crap hoite toite fashion designers create.
More corporate sodomizing of Roddenberry's corpse it would seem. Such cynical earnestness at raping the ST fanbase, it's disgusting.
Discovery Producer #1. "Let's generate buzz for this crapfest by changing the Klingons look. That's sure to get ratings!"
Discovery Producer #2. "I love it! BTW, do you like the smell of my farts?"
Discovery Producer #1. "Your farts are sublime! I'd like to can them for future sniffing."
Discovery Producer #2. "You're too kind. Now, let's get back to destroying the ST franchise via bad ideas."
They keep this up and were gonna have to start anotber wesite called.

Yes the first episode will air on tv but the rest will be on netflix/CBS all access. Netflix is for international viewers only though. US/Canada will need to watch it on CBS.Maybe with them being busy screwing up the big screen movies TPTB won't have time to muck this one up?
BTW, is this new show the one that is going to be available by paid subscription only? If that's the case they can kiss my hairy feline ass! Star Trek TV content has always been free and I'm not so "thirsty" that I'm going to start shilling out money to continue watching this worn out franchise. If they wanted to be paid via a subscription service they should have done a deal with Netflix. I'm not subscribing to CBS paid service or any other service -- period! It's simply not worth it and I know I'm not the only one who feels this way.
We are all open minded, but the general trend that this series is going towards is that dark and gritty crap from BSG which made it painful to watch. Yeah once in a while Dark themes are okay, but to put a whole show behind a theme that does not suit trek which is more towards space exploration and science, really does not paint a pretty picture.I liked that because of the sentiment, not because I think Star Trek Discovery sucks. I am still completely openminded about that and will have a look and see for myself. That is the reason why I basically haven't really read most of the posts in this thread so I can remain as unbiased as possible. Technically I will thus be going into this show the same way I did SGU because I had not seen or heard much of anything for that show before I started watching it either. Maybe I'll turn out to be just as disappointed by Discovery. That'd be quite something. I probably wouldn't seek out a discoverysucks forum though as first of all it can all be discussed right here and secondly they didn't cancel SGA to make Discovery, so it's a bit different.
TNG is predicting a very accurate future though
