Dirt Bikes, hull "eating" somethings, and Kirk alien chic shipping (?)
whatever....
Seriously, the Enterprise gets destroyed again?

OMG I cannot get over how incredibly bad this looks. I have watched it at least 5 times, and just damn. HORRIBLE.

Im just so angry. So very angry. . I bet Orci's Trek would have been better. From that trailer, less than 2 minutes, I already know the entire movie will completely suck. I saw a motorcycle on another planet in that trailer. I heard Beastie Boys being played on the Comm system. I saw unknown aliens using Karate and swords. And, I even saw G'Kar from Babylon 5!

I just wonder if they stuck Idris Elba in a costume. Is this him? Even if it isn't, those few things I saw in that trailer are enough to ruin it for me totally. It would be like showing me a clip of a new Firefly movie only 30 seconds long, showing Mal with blonde hair and wearing a ballerina outfit as he gazes out the windows of Serenity which is underwater somewhere. Oh, and Miley Cyrus Wrecking Ball playing as the soundtrack.
It will suck in terms of how Trek fans will feel. But it will likely make lots of money. So, the fans will have to pick up Star Trek since we don't have any Trek out there except Star Trek Continues and Phase II. If we can get Star Trek Continues to build some Prime Universe (TNG era) sets, we can get actual Trek from them like we are already getting. They definitely have the writing chops.
EDIT: 3:50pm
Yep, the G'Kar looking dude in the screenshot above IS the character being played by Idris Elba. What a waste. That music is so grating in the trailer, and the dislikes are piling up. I have done a brief flyby of the Trek fan sites and they are all in mourning and posting angry comments. And there are the newbies whining that old Trekkies hate it and are making "butthurt" comments.
Well, it seems to me that a significant portion of the moviegoers for the last two films were loyal Trek fans. This time, many are saying they simply will not pay to see it and will wait until two weeks before going to watch it at a theater. This should impact opening night rankings and one week rankings (and revenue). So much wrong with it...and it can't be fixed.
AW HELL F#@KING NAW.
It's total dreck. Explosions, dumb one-liners and crappy aliens. WTF is with that dumbass music???? I knew it was going to be like this. I have no hope for it at all. I do not have to "wait and see". I do not have to wait to say it sucks. It MIGHT make a ton of cash on the Star Wars crows or maybe even the Fast and Furious crowd. But after seeing this one trailer, I do not think any Trek fans will be watching it. Such a sad moment. Gene Roddenberry is crying in his coffin, too sad to spin.

how about the dirtbike? wtf is that in the 23rd century huh?
Besides it being a dirtbike, and that dirtbike being on another planet, how the fkk can they have an operational dirtbike with it's battery, parts, need for air in tires (meaning air pump), tires and GAS in the 23rd century?
Replicatorseses.
U no like Beastie Boys?AW HELL F#@KING NAW.

They have used them in all the Nu Trek.

I thought it would be interesting to see a view of the trailer from a Trek fansite, so here it is:
The comments are actually here:
http://trekmovie.com/2015/12/14/reaction-video-to-star-trek-beyond-trailer-aye-well-played/
Definitely mixed, but what I like about them is that unlike the sewer known as YouTube comments the TrekMovie commenters (both pro and con) tend to explain why they feel the way they do.
Me, I don't think the trailer reveals enough of the film to tell us much of anything. As the trailer was meant to be shown in theaters before "The Force Awakens" I suspect they specifically went after the fastest paced action scenes they could to grab attention. A trailer of calmer scenes would not have much "punch" - which of course leads up to the real error here. Putting a trailer for Star Trek right before Star Wars is not optimal as the two film franchises have different audiences.
I would have made a longer trailer with more character scenes and released it into the theaters right after The Force Awakens finished its run. Trying to promote Trek now is pointless as for the next few weeks in the movie world Star Wars will be consuming all of the "oxygen" in the room.
I like the YouTube comments better because there are at least 9000 more comments, and many of those comments come from people who would not ever go to trekmovie. Besides that, they are heavily censored where YouTube is not.
Really? How much of a glimpse of the movie do you need to see to draw conclusions? There is Kirk jumping debris on an alien planet on a gassed up and operational dirtbike. That alone is a travesty. The Enterprise gets destroyed. Beastie Boys is played on the comm system, and Scotty even comments on the song and says it is a good choice. Idris Elba, one of the name-brand headliners for the film is entirely covered in rubberface, and is from a never seen before alien race. That is actually a whole lot to work with Joe! And the audiences for Star Wars and Star Trek, they are not really different anymore are they? Both are action/fantasy films and to me they are now in the same genre, even if Star Trek Beyond looks more like Guardians of the Galaxy than Star Wars.
LOL, true. I think that subsequent trailers will make things worse, honestly. I think they revealed too much in this trailer. Enough to turn off MILLIONS of potential movie theater goers. The "meat" of the story still has to stick to the bones, and the bones are bad and misshapen. The Star Trek universe is in shambles, and we get no sense that this crew or the Enterprise are merely one ship in a fleet of ships representing the Federation of Planets. It feels like they are on their own swashbuckling adventure having nothing to do with exploring the galaxy or having any science.
