we are 2 episodes into the season so you drawing the conclusion they are showing less is much much to early and better saved for when we are further into the season or perhaps even wait untill its aired all episodes.

agreed, but if you look at the other seasons, this far in they was far more sex. it really doesn't matter, just thought it was interesting and i know that the "usual" groups of protesters have been targeting this show as well as others for the sex stuff

as far as i am concerned, if anything in it is "pornographic" it is the violence and not the sex

sex=the making of or the "practice in" making life. violence=destroying life

however far fewer ppl claim to have issue with the graphic acts and depictions of bloodletting then with an occasional shot of a penis, ass or vagina...kind of twisted if you ask me

2 episodes isnt enough to make ANY conclusion on the matter. speculation pointless.

Yes but most seasons of any given show are like 6 episodes long now, maybe 8 if we're lucky, so by 2 episodes in you should have a fair sampling of the tone of that season. (And this crap about splitting up seasons is just that -- crap. Those are separate seasons and anyone saying otherwise is full of shit and just trying to blow smoke up your bung hole.)

Wow. Even the seasons are small on that show.

first season had 13 episodes.. second had 10 and third also has 10.

and nope you cant make wild ass claims like it has less sex this season after only 2 episodes when there are 8 more to go.

Here's a "wild ass" claim for you...

I would say "spoiler" however, I trust that everyone paid some modicum of attention in history class, or at least caught the Kirk Douglas movie or the USA remake...

Spartacus' rebellion is going to fail and nearly all of his followers will die in battle or soon afterwards.

I stand by that "wild ass" claim 99.98%
:encouragement:

the cilician pirates sold him out, they were supposed to take him and his core followers out of Italy. they then tried to march north and out of italy but got boxed in by crassus and pompey

they should have made a run for the north from the start

wasnt it winter? and a trek cross the mountains at that time would be nigh impossible no?

initially, yes winter was coming. they did head north but different historians give diff details and it seems that there may have been pressure on the historians to not write how close the slaves came to attacking rome.

3 diff writers = 3 diff accounts of the 2 year war. none of them give reasons why spartacus didn't continue north when it appears he could have if he wished

despite the portrayal of many 'syrians' and 'africans' in his army, the majority of them were non-latin italians and gauls of northern italy/se france. Spartacus himself may not even had been from Thrace (he may have been called thracian due to the type of gladiatorial combat he was trained in) No one knows his real name or real lineage. Therefore, if his intentions were to get to his homeland-we do not know where that actual was-it may have been Italy itself.

Blood, and blood and headsplitting blood....such violence oh my!

In the battle depicted, this was when the legate Mummius--I believe Crassus's son is an 'artistic license" issue added in--did indeed disobey Crassus' command to not engage but did anyhow. The different historians do not agree on where exactly this fight took place but they do agree in Mummius' disobedience and death and that it was this Roman defeat that caused Crassus to re-institute the practice of 'decimation' among his army.

Thought the 'my cock is magic' scene was pretty funny

Could have gone without seeing the gay sex though (wonder if either actor is actually homosexual?)

Getting kind of tired of seeing the raging jealous women thing playing out again and again..Dont think any of them could make such a good show out of it as the 'fight' between Lucretia and Illythia (Lucy Lawless and Viva Bianca) did in last season

Meh, some of us have had to sit through decades of heterosexual sex scenes. ;) What goes around comes around my brutha. :P

Writers are trying to top what they've done before no doubt, and with a show this campy that isn't a good thing. It's already over the top in all areas. They probably figure most people wouldn't watch it if it was more authentic and serious.

kind of what i meant with the "over and over again" thing. I think a big reason that the whole lady fight of last season was so good was because of Lucy Lawless and Viva Bianca(porn star name much?) and the writers are trying to recreate something that was probably more due to the talent of last years actresses then due to the writing.

Have you been watching?

Not watching this season yet. I'll catch up on a marathon. What you described though sounded very typical of how they ramp up the faux drama in order to top themselves. Like I said the show is already over the top so there's really nowhere for them to go at this point.

It will be interesting to show how they choose to end the story. Of course we all know the overall ending, but neither historian told us details-just that the rebellion was crushed and that Spartacus and his leaders were presumed dead by the Romans

In the 2 versions that came before (Kirk Douglass and the USA network one) both show him dying but with a child remaining free

They could get radically different and show him actually surviving the "mess he made", kind of a twisted morality essay on how violence doesn't always correct evil ways (blah, blah, etc, etc)

They are promising an "ending you won't see coming" intimating that they may at least, do things different then the previous versions

It would be interesting if they sneak Kirk Douglass in somewhere. The cast and crew combined-I think his birthday(?)-with a party celebrated the end of filming. Be cool if they show him as a survived and aged Spartacus contemplating his life.
