Spartacus: Vengeance (Season 2)

Yeah, the writing is very intense and complicated, which is good. I admit I'm a bit creeped out by the brother/sister thing. Then again, the writers do love to go over the top don't they?

Were real Romans that accepting of brother/sister taboo? They touched on that in Gladiator too. :P

No, Romans were not accepting of incest.

With these types of shows you need to just regard them as dramas because typically the "history" part is of horrid quality. As dramas they can be quite entertaining.

Yeah, the brother/sister thing seems to be done more for titillation than anything else. I generally don't like such obvious contrivance.

you guys are too bitchy sure incest back then was not toloerated and taboo but it still wasnt unheard of.. take emperor Caligula for example he apearantly had a thing with ALL 3 of his sisters.. same goes for today even tho in most of the civilised world its illiegal its not unheard of..
also across there little pond at about the same time the egyptian royal family were screwing eachother front left and center so it fits with the era and not really something that bugs me..

what does bug me a bit was the "tiberious im ready to finish, come insert ¤%/& in arse" that gave me a creep out for sure :P

It cemented the fact that the Romans were real dicks. :P

I wasn't around to see it plus I think my Starz package has ended so I'm SOL on seeing the show now. It's no big deal really. Granted, it was nice for some eye candy but I can live without it.

I wasn't too stoked on being part of a soft core gay porn thread anyway, so you fellas enjoy yourselves. ;)

I caught the latest episode Libertus today and the ending was epic. It could have been a series finale. It was good to see another prequel character return as well. :)

Meh, missed it but I'm sure I'll catch it during a marathon of this season when Starz does the free weekend thing again. I actually don't miss that channel to be honest.

(PS -- Did that sound convincing enough or can you detect sour grapes? :P )

this weeks episode turned out to be most enjoyable imo.

favorite moments:

Asher letting lucreatia know where she stands
Glaber embracing the "true" roman way
gannicus and spartacus facing off against eachother

.........................

im still struggling with new spartacus tho tbh he just doesnt carry the role as well as whitfield did :(

I miss Whitfield too. His replacement seems a little too bland somehow. It is too bad that Gannicus left the party but it seems he will return next week.

indeed he's just to "generic" both looks and acting wise and he just doenst carry the power and unique proffesionalism that whitfield had and as such the show quality suffers imo
ie this season feels cheaper and less A quality tv and more on the far side of B quality would you agree?

not that ill stop watching tho as i want to see whaere they go but i wouldnt mind less "spartacus" and more of the other characters...

and i guess we'll see about gannicus :)
