I had a wonderful experience at a friend's house yesterday. I had the most awesome LOW CARB strawberry ice cream I had ever tasted while there, and I asked what brand it was. She told me she made it herself. I was like, WHAAAAT?? I had to see her secret. It turned out to be this thing:

It has a metal freezer bowl which you put in the freezer before using. With it, you do not need ice or rock salt. You mix up your ice cream ingredients, then dump it in the freezer bowl inside the machine and less than an hour later you have ice cream. She and I made some basic chocolate ice cream using heavy cream, milk, unsweetened chocolate and splenda. A taste test is necessary at this point to get the flavor just right. Then, you put the mixture in the frozen freezer container and put it inside the machine. The machine has paddles and it churns the mixture until it becomes like a soft serve consistency. Then, you scoop it out and put it in an ice cream container and put that in the freezer. In about two hours, you have firm ice cream like you would buy in the store, except you made it yourself!
I just ordered mine from Amazon.
