I agree. But I think they should have dont it a bit differently. I really like how Beckett is explaining this thing with the kaijus

I dont get how Mako lost it so easily in this. She should have been able to handle this.

Watch the scene - remember she may be drift compatible but she had not been in an actual drift in a Jaeger before. Add in Raleigh going out of alignment and Mako lacked the experience to avoid chasing the rabbit.

Del Toro did an excellent job of weaving plot explanation into more active scenes - like this switching between Beckett and Mako/Raleigh.

That is another huge plus for this film, the pace of the story never gets bogged down.

That scene shows that you can have a big CGI scene without it being soulless - Michael Bay could learn from this.

Personality isn't a factor in drift compatibility.

And in one beautifully done set piece scene Del Toro explains the whole Stacker/Mako relationship. This is the difference between a commercial hack and an artist.

And as always Elba has stage presence in spades!
