He's not remaking the series, dude. It's an entirely new movie.

No reason to "imitate and fail".

I know that-but just like with seemingly everything else new in scifi (and other genres)-many TPTB's seem to be lacking the imagination to create their own and overly use the old standards for "encouragement" which are often obvious and often bad.

Hopefully given his other works, Abrams will not succumb to this

however, if the new films are based on "heir to empire" books or similar storyline, then the story itself 'remakes' in part what has come before-a new evil replaces vader and emperor, new heroes replace luke and han, etc...so the occasion to make a similar interaction between the villain and hero-or on their own-will present itself

separately-SW and some other films reveal many actors who play small parts that often make huge impressions and memories-it makes one wonder how they would have done as feature actors

Abrams DOES try to steal and re-create these "iconic moments". In ST 2009, Nero standing there yelling Spoooock...SPOOOOCK was a clear ripoff of the Kaaaaahhhhn moment in The Wrath of Kahn. In the trailer for the sequel for the new one, we see a clear ripoff of the Kirk/Spock moment where Spock died in the intermix chamber, with their hands touching between the glass. It was a fail. I bet that Abrams rips off more, and will rip off moments in previous Star Wars movies.

That reminds me of those moments in some movies where they say the title of the movie in their dialogue.

"Let's get this star trek on the road, Mr Sulu. Ahead warp 5."

That may have been done for comedy relief . That's was the way I saw it or was I not supposed to laugh at a funeral . I tend to do that sometimes .
