Resurrection's first episode last night introduced 13.3 million viewers to the town of Arcadia, Missouri, where the dead have started mysteriously coming back to life. First, Jacob, a little boy who drowned years before, arrives. Then comes Caleb, who had a heart attack while driving. The first two episodes of the show are competently acted, but really nothing to write home about. There's a lot of wide-eyed marveling about the fact that, yes, the dead have truly come back to life, and—surprise—their arrivals lead to revelations about the past. It's mostly mundane stuff, at least for now.

Really? :bored:

I actually want to catch this when it comes out, if only to satisfy my curiosity.

Let me guess, they'll spend an entire season never getting around to what the hell is really going on. Then it will get cancelled. You'll never find out if it's aliens or God that brought those people back. Without resolution you will be sad. With sadness comes a slice of pizza "just to take the edge off". Next thing you know you're eating carbs again and your life is spiraling out of control. Do you really want that to happen? No, probably not, so it's better to just skip this show to begin with. :D

I understand your cynicism, but let's try to give them more than one or two episodes before we get pissy about things. ;) /hug

I saw the first ep-- it was "different" - liked the idea that Jacob's recitation of his drowning implies that Jacob's aunt may have been murdered...will she return as well? still "meh" on the show. I am betting on gou'ald influence! ;)

I believe that this show is an American re-do of a French one (currently airing on Sundance channel); in such situations, I have found it usually pays to watch the foreign original over the US remake (Girl with dragon tattoo, 11th hour, being human, top gear, Kitchen nightmares :icon_e_surprised:, get the drift?)

------about the returned
In an idyllic French mountain town, a seemingly random collection of people find themselves in a state of confusion as they attempt to return to their homes. What they do not yet know is that they have been dead for several years, and no one is expecting them back. As they struggle to reintegrate with their families and past lovers, buried secrets emerge and new mysteries develop as they grapple with a miraculous and sinister new reality. But it seems they are not the only ones to have returned from the dead. Their arrival coincides with a series of gruesome murders which bear a chilling resemblance to the work of a serial killer from the past.-------

BY THE WAY--season 1 is on NETFLIX and Amazon

I totally was channeling that when I wrote it. Got done and realized it sounded like one of their commercials. :icon_lol:

Finally got around to watching it. Eh, we'll see how it goes. But dislike how they're setting up all these sentimental? heavy melodrama?, can't think of the word, aspects with loved ones coming back. Hope they focus on the mystery and don't dwell heavily on the sentimental aspects. There needs to be a balance.

I've enjoyed the first two episodes. Providing it doesn't become a giant soap opera, I'll probably continue to watch it.

If it is indeed a remake of the French tv the returned, then the happy reunions will be turning to something else soon

I watched the returned on netflix-there is only one season made so far-pretty good show so far.

I've enjoyed the three episodes I've seen so far.

I had to make a snide comment about how fun it would be to see Veronica Cartwright eating some cherries. Or even spitting out a cherry pit.

<ducks and runs>
