How much of a human turd ball do you have to be to steal the entire contents of not just one Little Free Library, but two?
For anyone not in the know "Little Free Libraries" are small, decorative cabinets that home owners put at the front of their property with the intent that people can leave a book/take a book. They are, in essence, tiny lending libraries. If you're an avid reader they are pretty cool because they are convenient. They are also a great way for you to donate books that you don't want anymore. All you have to do is simply put them into the little cabinet and that's it. Easy peasy.
Here's an example of one:
Many people make their own Little Free Libraries and there are some really cool designs out there. It's definitely a community good will gesture to put one up.
But... There are two in my mom's neighborhood that got completely cleaned out the other day. Someone literally stole the entire contents, junk books and all. It's bad enough that this used to happen because some crack head moron thought they could get a few pennies by selling the books to Half Price Books but A.) HPB pays literally next to nothing for books these days and B.) HPB in my state has a rule against purchasing any books marked at belonging to Little Free Libraries, and many of the books are tagged with permanent stamps right on the covers.
I've seen this wholesale thievery several times at other LFL's and for the life of me I can't understand it. The thief would make more money by collecting aluminum cans than they possibly could from trying to re-sell used books. There simply isn't a market for them.
I know this sounds like a lame topic for discussion but I can't help wondering what could possibly drive someone to do such a thing. It always boggles my mind when I encounter such an illogical act by a fellow human being. Really, it drives me crazy because I can't figure out what could possibly be going through this person's brain to commit such an act. And it gives me the willies to be reminded that there is petty thieving trash sharing the world with me.
