I will reserve comments about my impressions until a bit later. Right now, Im seeing "generic" (except for the giant ant he rides). I am unfamiliar with the comic.

I tend to agree, but the good news is Marvel said this would be the final "origin" character that they are going to do.

*sigh* Maybe the last origin story but I'm sure not the last stupid character to be ripped out of a comic book and put to the big screen. Disney will end up saturating the Marvel catalog and popularity, just like they did with everything Disney has ever owned.

It was stupid as a comic, and the clips look stupid too. Riding a winged ant? It would actually attack him immediately. Plus winged males die pretty quickly and winged females lose the wings after the "wedding" flight.

When Edgar Wright was making it there was hope but they replaced him citing "vision differences" with of all people Peyton Reed, whose entire resume is teen romcoms?

For some reason I found the bolded line funny.

At any rate, not to defend this movie, but I think they might be doing the character to explain some stuff with the Avengers, namely Ultron whom Hank Pym (Ant-Man) created. I say "might" because I don't know enough about the story to know for sure. As it is I'm not even sure which incarnation of Ant-Man they are going to use so the Ultron angle might not be relevant.
