Some people like to eat truffles. People who pay $150 to see an modern art show want to be seen paying $150 to see an modern art show.
You are so right.... The thing that is amusing is when you have eaten the truffles, the caviar, the escargot, and the champagne, the novelty gives way to curiosity about how and why these "delicacies" are so expensive. It usually comes down to something contrived and manufactured....like diamonds. They are supposedly rare, or flawless, or have a certain reflective index. Mostly, it is a trick for people who have money to spend and think they are getting a special value for that money. But other things are definitely worth the money.
My point is that rarely is quality determined by how much something costs, nor is cost a true indication of quality. Apple products are more expensive than other computing and mobile devices, but they are generally of lower quality than the best in class offerings from Samsung. High end Fords like Jaguars and Land Rovers are mostly re-badged and visually enhanced versions of vehicles like the Lincoln Navigator and Town Car. And the exclusive badged versions from Jaguar and Land Rover cost almost 3 times as much.
