I hope you like it OM.
Just remember going in what you are getting. It is (at least to this point) a pretty straightforward action piece that happens to have a post apocalyptic setting.
OH WOW! Finally, a watchable, intelligent, scientifically plausible show that crosses it's T and dots it's i
The premise is chillingly believable.
The military and the military decorum is spot on.
The weapons we see, the tactics that are portrayed, the compartmentalization of the military vs the CDC is absolutely PERFECT.
The lack of gimmicks is refreshing.
The cast is superb, attractive and well balanced.
The camera work is PERFECT. A blend of static, dramatic video balanced out by just the amount of shaky cam at the appropriate moments, breathtaking scenery.
Im only halfway through episode 1 and Im hooked already. I had to post this since I was taking a short break.
The only thing I see here that will have to play out, is the course of this pandemic. They cannot run this show for more than 2 years without resorting to tropes, or introducing a mutation which becomes immune to the current virus. They need to terminate the story with either a cure or the passing of the mass deaths caused by the virus. They can make another show about society after the virus, but it cannot be called "The Last Ship"
Until then, I am hoping these production values and this writing crew carry the show. I think they have a hit on their hands. Let's see of the ratings prove that to be true. Should we make a ball for this series? It looks like a few are watching it.
