Why Z Nation is better than The Walking Dead

I fail to find any humor in a show whose goal is to ensure the viewer is in a perpetual state of melodramatic sentiment and crying throughout every episode that was originally touted as a post-apocalyptic horror thriller.

Are you talking about Stargate Universe or The Walking Dead? There was plenty of humor in Stargate Universe, but it was all unintentional.

I guess it can apply to that as well. The only horror in SGU, though, would probably have been revealed as the reason why Eli is the only one gaining weight on a ship rationing what little food they can find.

Not quite sure what happened at the end of the "Sisters of Mercy" episode. Was it left intentionally ambiguous or are certain characters done now?

I think it was left open for Addy to realize what the Sisters really are and Mac to help her escape.

Nice change of pace episode. Note that once again they leavened it with humor and kept the pace reasonably quick. In The Walking Dead this plot would probably have taken 6 or 7 episodes and been humorless and dopey navel gazing - gee wait, that was what they did with Andrea, Michonne and the Governor to start with....

They aren't actually lesbians either (or at least the one who spent the whole episode in the tent with Murphy wasn't). They are just literally built on a psychotic hatred of men which comes from their leader.

They could have been a special kind of lesbians who viewed men as the way to have children and appreciated women for love. Sort of like the opposite of what U.S. forces observed among Afghanistan's males.

Doubtful. It doesn't track with the way they are presented in the episode.

They didn't explain what happened to the banished boy that took them to the camp. Was he just booted back out onto the road? :daniel_new004:

Based on the closing scene I think they did.

Okay that was a pretty funny episode.

Zeds on Ritalin? And apparently some zeds on Viagra? The premise is they broke into a pharmaceutical plant and gorged themselves on the pills.

Also Murphy is becoming out and out spooky. He has discovered that if he infects people with his bodily fluids they become susceptible to his "suggestions".

This is so far better than TWD it isn't funny.

Well next week it's done for the season. I have no idea if it will be renewed but hopefully it will because out of all of SyFy's offerings it's pretty much the only one I watch.

I am really falling for this show. I like how they're evolving Murphy's condition, the dynamic of the characters and the unfolding story.

I like this show despite the cheap production values and somewhat bad acting in places. There's a sincerity from the writers to keep the story moving at a decent pace and that makes all the difference. One could even say that the writers respect the viewers by the way they've given us a fun romp of a story without getting too bogged down in emo melodrama.

And I'm glad that SyFy finally has a show worth watching. It's been too long since that was the case.

The only part I would like see changed is the purposely groan worthy humor. A fart scene in a comedy not a problem, in a drama?

It's a cheesy drama with purposely written comedic relief.

I find that the cheap laughs remind me that I'm watching a SyFy show and that in turn reminds me to cut the producers some slack because obviously they don't take themselves as seriously as TWD producers do. I mean, it's SyFy so I'm just happy to get a show that's actually worth watching from them now.

I can also overlook a few stupid scenes, like zombies on Viagra, because the writers seem to treat the "meat" of the story with sincerity.

Oddly enough I actually found the scene (in an earlier episode) where Doc gets tangled up in wiring in an air shaft with a zed that he then shares a doob with to be funny. Normally I'd find such juvenile, low-brow pandering to be tiresome but for some reason it seemed to fit the character and I didn't mind it.

I like the show, just with sysy would cut out some of the campy cheese, the groan worthy toilet humor. To give TWD a real run for the money. There are so few shows on the don't cater to the emo/hipster crowd.

Okay, decently good cliffhanger. Fast paced, threw curves at us and did leave lots of stuff open to interpret.
