What Was the Last Thing You Ate/Drank

I missed this earlier. It isn't "cow's milk" that's the problem, it's the pasteurization process, the act of heating the milk, that destroys certain enzymes that aid in its digestion. I don't drink milk all year around, just during certain times and I've been clear about why. It is high in IGF-1, among other things, and provides an excellent anabolic effect.

If you consume raw dairy, you get all its benefits. That means unpasteurized cow's milk WILL give you all the benefits claimed to it, including bone-fortifying calcium. You can find raw dairy at most shops that sell organic foods.

Not around here. Selling raw milk is a big no no, even at stores. The state just strung up (legally) a farmer who was selling it at his place. And the FDA has been raiding raw milk farms in this country for awhile now.

I'm not saying raw milk can't be found, but for a lot of folks it's not readily available. Don't know about CA but if it's not sold in stores then OM1 will probably have a long drive out of the city to find the stuff on a regular basis.

Selling raw milk products in CA is legal on all levels. Here is a list of states and a map:

However on the FEDERAL level, it is illegal, just like marijuana. Whole Foods does not carry it, and they recalled their last raw milk products in 2010:

For the record, this is why my comments on unpasteurized milk went untold because you really cant get it in the cities. Bluce is right about it containing the bacteria and enzymes which make the calcium in it (and the lactose) digestible. But this only applies to unpasteurized raw milk (preferably directly from the cow and within 6 hours of milking).Even refrigeration can kill the beneficial bacteria in raw milk products.

Refrigeration can but the 3 major enzymes it contains that make it wholly digestible are only destroyed by high heat.
