Rooting a phone

I am not sure why each manufacturer and sub manufacturer of phones has made rooting more difficult than it needs to. It seems that you really need to spend hours and hours to find the right rom otherwise you can brick your phone. I have a xiaomi Redmi 3s.

It's a decent phone that does its job, however, it seems very difficult to root

Anyone know how to root this thing?

ALWAYS follow the advice of somebody who is actually using a rooted phone of your model, or on a forum where their phones have been rooted and field tested. Nothing worse than rooting a phone and then having necessary things broken. Try this one:

Here is a YouTube on it:

That guide is god awful. Not only is it not in English but it's asking to install Kingroot which is basically a trojan horse which is VERY difficult to remove once its on your phone. I know this because I had installed it on a previous phone.
