That's why I never got into the old Nabble forums mudslinging at the actors, or the rush needs a bath thread.
There is a line between Actor, and Character. One actor DID blow that line himself, and I had no issue having a dig when he did it.

I still think Robert Carlyle is a decent actor, but the role they crafted for him in SGU was too vague and undefined. He looked dirty and disheveled, and although that was more realistic for the backdrop, none of the other actors followed suit which made him look like a vagrant reading lines. I still feel he was too unkempt and dirty in the show (and evidently offset too). This is during his Dr Rush days on SGU:

He looked his part, and I have no issue with that. I DO have issues with what he was given to work with however. I just don't see Rush as a failure of acting, I see him as a failure of writing, and I need to make that distinction clear.

Well, tht is probably from OUAT, and to be honest, he looks a little worn for Mr Gold/Rumple.

I see a big difference, with him looking better in the lower picture. But then again, an image search of Robert Carlyle will show that he is a master of appearance and attitude. A very interesting actor, But during SGU to me he looked like a beggar in need of a shower.

Not a Begbie, ( ) but sure, he looked the part for the show. The fact that no one else did just made it look dumb.

Besides that, you have to remember that basically NONE of the original characters were given any sort of mention during the show. Jack appeared as "altered clone" Jack for SGU during a ridiculous comm stones visit? How did Dr Rush become the foremost expert on Ancient technology and lore? Daniel is that person.

He was not the expert on the ancients, he was a big math geek trying to solve a math geek problem. Daniel is no math geek, and I doubt he would ever have gotten to the Destiny on his own.

As to the "military" in SGU. Young would have been cashiered out of the military and none of them would have made it through the psych profiles and qualifications to be in a Top Secret program like Stargate. As to worst episode just think of Chloe and Eli clubbing on Earth using the stones...

Correct on everything. And yes, that episode "Earth" was the worst Stargate-named episode ever produced.

Or better yet, they have an entire manufacturing plant that can create plastic and artisans that can craft wood, a metallurgy facility, then have the ability to make paint/gloss/enamel. I know watching SGU was a bore but I really feel sorry for the poor bastard trapped on that ship with those loonies.

Now wait just one minute...evidently somebody found the Mall on Destiny, cause Chloe got her hair done every week as did TJ, and the gifts for that baby shower didnt just come from nowhere (did they?). Eli gained weight despite the fact that the ship was running out of food. I say he found the McDonalds on Deck 7 and raided the pantry. Besides that, he had his Arcturian Donut Plant to munch on. And getting tail was easy...just call Chloe. It might not be so bad. They even had a magic charging pad which could charge Eli's iPhone 4S (even though the iPhone 4S cannot be charged wirelessly). Forget about online dating services, just grab a magic communications rock and do it for real.
