now, given all that is going on in society now, the network it will be on, and the possibilities that the original "family of the future" idea can give to scenarios fro writes to put in a TON of social commentary

the daughter will be a lesbian

Elroy will want a sex change op

George will be a mid life crisis, alt right Dad

Mom (forgot her name) will be a born again neo feminist who has "closed" herself for "business" to George

therefore, instead of a robo house maid, George will will have a Japanese sex robot to subdue his needs and contract 'yellow fever' as well

and many more.

Live action Jetsons? I could get into it if the sets/CGI are really cool. Like those Jetsons apartment buildings with the flying car garages:



The asthetic has to be connected or it won't be the Jetsons. It is going to be live action, but we can make that apartment building look real, and do everything else too. In something like this, it actually should be a CGI orgifest. The Jetsons was never really about cerebral storylines.

They can take any futuristic setting and do that. But we are talking about The Jetsons here, and that means they are going to have to make a visual connection to the cartoon imagery in order to pull it off. Even if it means 1950-ish stylistic cues which inspired the 50s Future asthetic. The Jetsons came from an era where cars had fins and Futurist/Modernistic was the closest thing to real life Jetsons things got.



If they drop the ball, say...use Toronto's skyline and change the House Robot to a human android, or dump the flying car designs for GM and Ford concept cars, and grow up Judy and Elroy and put them in a high school, it's DOA.

Why are you guys even speculating on what they need to do to make this show succeed? It's not gonna happen. It's gonna be a shit fest, pure and simple. Initially there will be some CGI shots of the futuristic world they live in, but then the direction will quickly go to a lot of interior scenes and close-up shots of the character's faces as they blather inane dialogue in order to keep the budget down. And yes, there will be heavy focus on the teen characters (Elroy will no doubt be made a teen) and the whole show will have a CW vibe ala "Riverdale" or "Vampire Diaries". In short, this show will give you cancer.

Exactly, and the dialogue will be vapid and out of place because The Jetsons is not Star Trek or even Lost In Space. Why The Jetsons? If they were bringing it back using animation like they did The Clone Wars and Rebels, it might work a lot better. But a live action Jetsons? How are they gonna do Astro? Like you said, the CGI will be used sparingly to keep costs down, and the dialogue will move quickly into Riverdale or Roswell territory. They will no doubt expand Elroy and Judy's characters by adding in their futuristic friends (represented with diversity in mind). It will be a new show but it cannot ever be The Jetsons.

so now they can mold something beloved from the past and shape it to deliver whatever msg they want--its perfect actually.
