Legendary Pictures just made a BIG splash in the "geek" world and the indie game world by acquiring as a wholly owned subsidiary Geek and Sundry. Couple that with their 2012 acquisition - Nerdist - and it sure looks like Legendary Films (Pacific Rim, Godzilla, The Dark Knight, 300 and a lot more) is not just about films and such anymore.

Why should this interest us?

Well, the creative minds behind Geek and Sundry also happen to be avid science fiction fans and indeed one of them (Felicia Day) was part of the cast of Eureka. Some of their admittedly weird indie programming in the past has had a scifi tint to it (Space Janitors, Outlands, Sword and Laser). And a specific reason behind the decision to go with Legendary was to have the funding to grow beyond their current paradigm of YouTube productions funded through IndieGoGo campaigns to full productions on TV and other media.

Could be interesting.

You forget that one of Felicia's best friends is Wil Weaton. :P

True. But she started Geek and Sundry and it was her property.

Wil Wheaton is of course Wesley Crusher, but he is also another Eureka alumnus. He has a show on Geek and Sundry (Table Top) that has helped give hobby board gaming mainstream popularity.

The Geek and Sundry gang like SciFi and are very creative. Their main drawback has been shoestring financing which should be helped by this move.

Well, of course YOU know Tabletop, and the Guild, and other works they have produced.
What we have now is..........
A bunch of geeks, a bunch of gaming geeks in the position to make movies. It's like View Askew with less swearing, but steroids instead!!!

Oh, Felicia has is also one of the FEW multi-arc female characters to survive in Supernatural, so you get another fanbase with her as well besides just Eureka.
