Not funny or sci fi...just, interesting

    this video was pretty good

I don't know if it is a good measure of intelligence, perhaps more so with perception and processing though. Components of intelligence but not the full package.

i originally saw this about 8yrs ago...FB 'reminded' me of it today
i am sure that the post production part isn't that technologically difficult, butt he fact that in the filming, everyone was moving backwards

so when you see someone walking fwd, they were really going backwards

someone going backwards was originally going in reverse

that is impressive organization and discipline

PARTICULARLY in the knowledge that these kids are millennial slackers

but maybe i am just easily impressed..... :shame:

I do think it's awesome. But the little grumpy logic troll sitting on my shoulder is mumbling something about how an ENTIRE SCHOOL is making this video, involving a significant number of locales in that school, hundreds of students and god knows how much prep and rehearsals and outtakes. Our tax money at work folks! At least we get a YouTube vid out of it!

    Hookey AT school. How novel!

the same i thought when i saw it back then

at the time, it was in the comments and someone from the school stated in a reply that it was done mainly on a saturday with prep and post done after school hrs with the guidance of staff volunteers

after reading that, you then notice that in the video, even in the offices and and cafeteria as well as the classrooms, there no adults, that i can see. so no secretaries, lunch ladies, school nurses, janitors, security, etc. who would be there if it were during the school day

The law would prevent them from NOT being there for supervision, plus they would have the keys to every door and would have to be there for access and direction and just plain old security.

--not posting for any religious or political reason

only as a truly interesting item that speaks to the nature of human behavior and how a dictatorship or one party rule 'democracy' cannot last unless the govt keeps the ppl 'fat and happy' with modern day 'bread and circuses'

also, on how that philosophy of that great big wheel, Samsara, constantly plays out over and over again. Ancient cultures were great observers of human behavior and social interactions and developed schools of thought to address them

Iran-the ppl are protesting over the general lack of freedom, the lack of food and other goods, that too many Iranians are dying in wars in Syria,Iraq and Lebanon and against the religious government.

some are even calling for a return of the royal family and its constitutional monarchy

human nature and the will to live free is a true thorn to dictators and those who presume to be so superior that only they can govern without the will of the ppl

I think this is true of most reptiles. The "frozen" iguanas falling out of the trees in Florida from the cold right now are not dead, they are in hibernation triggered by the temperature.

but did they freeze and hibernate in reaction to the cold or in anticipation of it?

the alligators put their snouts up before the ice formed and allowed the ice to form around the snout

acting in anticipation indicates a higher level of functioning then reaction does

They froze in reaction to the cold. If they had been able to anticipate it first they would have sought more stable hibernation spots instead of the trees.

maybe they were banking on the 'heat rises' principle to help them out? :) :)

Maybe! I think they mostly just want to be safe in hibernation. :)

and with those gators, it may have to do with the location as the more northerly populations may be more acclimatized to colder temps to begin with. the drop in temp was not as radical there as in FLA. i also know that even gators in GA and SC are smaller in size then their south GA and FLA cousins.

perhaps that smaller size helps them as well..don't know but smaller mammals stay 'awake' all winter while the larger ones-save humans-hibernate

wonder if the gators in FLA acted the same way?

All reptiles have this internal process and the temperature triggers.

    hibernation, yes of course

but what about sticking their snouts up through the water and holding them there until froze in place?

i was doing a quick search and didn't find any other rep that do that, yet
