Anyone else watching this show?

I usually don't much care for crime shows at all, but to my surprise I'm finding this one quite entertaining. The writing's decent (but Bryan Fuller is usually good), it's beautifully shot, and there's some terrific acting behind the two lead characters, especially from Mads Mikkelsen who's a good fit for Hannibal Lecter. Not nearly as good as Anthony Hopkins mind you, but close enough.

I only worry that after a while things will grow far too stale and repetitive. Also, going more than 1-2 seasons without having Graham find out about Lecter's true nature would just be annoying.

your comment kind of reminds me of what i was thinking of BATES MOTEL

I haven't watched an entire ep of either yet though I may soon.

I haven't bothered with Hannibal yet as the title alone pretty much tells me it will be lousy, but if our resident Democratic Socialist recommends it I might tune in because he's a relatively discerning fellow (read: He's not Dutch). ;)

As for Bates Motel, I've watched a couple episodes despite telling myself that I would never bother with such an abortion, but being laid-up from foot surgery here I've had no choice but to watch more TV than usual. My reaction is mixed and I have to admit they've written a fairly complex character in the mother on the show. To be honest though, like most shows on TV nowadays I doubt it will hold my interest as a dedicated viewer, especially since we all know where the story leads.

ANYTHING with the Hannibal Lecter character in it is something I will not watch. To me, the very existence of the character is psychotic. What sort of mind could create him in the first place? I dunno, its difficult for me to enjoy watching psychotic characters like Hannibal Lecter or Dexter or any creepy psychotic characters and have an entire movie or series centered around them. No entertainment value for me at all. Hate the Saw movies for the same reason. Mental sickness is okay if its only a movie? :(

the only hannibal movie that intersted more so then the others was the one with his backstory-a kid in lithuania (?) when retreating germans eat his sister. then on to france where he finds cause and defends his Japanese lady benefactor==but then he goes over the top in killing even after she asks him to stop-a not in my name type of thing--lost me again
