Well, this country seems to be in disarray lately. The sheer amount of racism and bigotry brought about by Trump's candidacy has disgusted me beyond belief. The infinite depth of widespread rampant stupidity is enough to cause any sane person convulsions but that is tolerable when compared to the rampant racism and xenophobia displayed by the general populace since Trump.
On one side, we have a candidate who is reviled and despised by his own party yet the party has decided to endorse him now that he won the primaries, a blatant showing of how disconnected politicians are from their primary responsibility, which is to serve the people and NOT their own interests. They want that office at all costs, including their own integrity and principles.
On the other side, we have a woman who has been vilified by the media due to the complete lack of understanding by common folks of the technical aspects of what that whole email fiasco actually represents. I'm also not impressed by her dishonesty in other matters but none of which make her necessarily a danger to the country. We also have a guy who, I believe, has truly noble intentions but is completely disconnected from reality when it comes to numbers and achieving his goals.
Then there's the media. This country is totally devoid of ALL journalism. When one has to tune into BBC or Al Jazeera to get real news about your own damned country, it speaks volumes as to how far a society has fallen.
Oh, and the food. Everything is GMO and corn fed and stuffed with sugar. Ask someone at the supermarket for sugar free bread and they look at you like you're asking for pickled herring-flavored ice cream.
Then there are other intellectually puzzling aspects of the people here by and large. People are convinced that insurance companies raping them over hot coals on healthcare is good and that jails are meant to punish and not rehabilitate and that education is only for those who can afford it, not realizing that healthy, educated people MAKE THE ECONOMY GROW. They are also brainwashed into completely misunderstanding what the f*ck "socialism" means. They associate it with communism in spite of all the social programs they already benefit from in this country (welfare, food stamps, social security, infrastructure, taxes, etc, etc, etc).
So, I'm considering a move. I'll keep my place down here because I love this place but I'm considering a possible move to Monaco (its proximity to France and Italy), Panama (its proximity to South Florida and Canada), Grand Cayman (same as Panama) or maybe back up north. I'm really encouraged by how much of an impact the new Liberal party of Canada has made with how they're handling things and improving life overall. I'm also impressed with the amount of transparency with which they're governing. I signed up for email updates and I am literally bombarded with daily emails updating me on every move the government is considering to take and, in certain instances, soliciting public opinion on significant matters. Modern technology makes this possible and I'm glad to see this Canadian government has embraced it and is using it efficiently.
