Closer to MTV's Shannara mini series!

The Belle of the Ball
As you all should know by now I am a major fan of Terry Brooks Shannara series (well all of his books really :D) and am looking forward to see what MTV does with the Elfstones of Shannara. It's in process now, writing is happening and even casting is happening.

Terry Brooks site recently posted this: http://terrybrooks.net/2014/12/shannara-on-mtv-team-photo/
surfing around the site you find the casting news:

Allanon- i think this guy is a good choice if he is TALL: http://terrybrooks.net/2014/12/shannara-on-mtv-allanon-cast/

Wil Ohmsford- yep he looks part elf: http://terrybrooks.net/2014/12/shannara-on-mtv-wil-ohmsford-cast/

Amberle- will they make her a redhead...should work either way: http://terrybrooks.net/2014/11/shannara-on-mtv-amberle-elessedil-cast/

I am looking forward to the ten part mini series based on the 2nd book. Rumor is that if they get a second "season" they will base it on the wishsong of shannara. :)

Huge Shannara fan myself! Thanks for the reminder. I'm still confused as to why they are starting with the second book in the series, but I assume it's because they don't want to (or can't) produce something that is too similar to the Lord of the Rings which the first book basically is.

Also, re: the casting of Allanon -- Manu Bennett! :daniel_new_anime021: He's actually a really good choice for the role. Unfortunately for Bennett (and us) Allanon always wears a robe and cowl which is quite different than going nude as he often did as Crixus in Spartacus. (And according to Lucy Lawless, Bennett did his nude scenes for real, choosing to show his junk instead of using a prosthetic covering. :icon_lol:)

As for the others cast so far, I really don't have an issue with them. I'm just happy this is getting produced so I'm not about to quibble. I only hope they do it right.

Oh yeah Rac -- it's "The Wishsong of Shannara". And you call yourself a fan. :moody: :icon_razz:

it was late-- now corrected...you missed the fact I aslso called the elfstones of shannara wishstones. :P typos rule after 9 with me! :D

I think you are right that the sword of shannara was too close to LOTR. It's a very different book from the next two. Brooks finds his own "fantasy voice" In Elfstones and carried it through very well. I understand he's heavily involved in scripting (ie he has script approval) and though the first Allanaon- Wil meeting is rewritten he has approved the chanbes. :)
