So it took 5 eps, but the show broke to the sci fi (which I had no idea that it was-didn't read/see anything to indicate it) side tonight

I also like the fact that it is a closed series; one 10 ep season and done

a firm beginning, middle and end (I hope?)

good acting and good actors in it as well

i recommend checking it out once it is done then stream it all back to back

ironically, today I read a small article on the show (and got some backstory on the book trilogy,etc)

this 10 ep season/series is based on the first book and that the deal between FOX and the production company would be outcome based on ratings

if successful (enough?) FOX will order 2 more seasons based on books 2 and 3

They should do the one season with all shows . Why waste everyone’s time when it may turn out to be a turkey anyway .

Note . I have nothing against Turkeys and they taste great ... though every time I eat them , I get sleepy . Kinda like some shows I have watched which have the same effect .

I just watched the pilot and I liked it . Has a little bit of the Under The Dome feel to it but I like under the dome so it should work for me . Oh and Spy Kids Spy mom is in it ... OMG she is just so freekin smokin hot ...
Only one ep so far but will watch a few more later . Pan Am games are on right now so TV is being taken over by the rest of the family that like sport thingys .
Me ! I like Si-Fi and not much else lol ...

I hadn't originally intended to watch it due to Shyamalan's involvement, but my son said he was liking it, so I caught up on Hulu. It was okay, nothing I would have stuck with if it had been a full 22 episode season. The live ratings weren't so good, but apparently DVR and online viewing numbers were much better, so they might bring it back. It's not like FOX has any real big hits for the past couple of years. Even if it is renewed I probably won't watch it.

I guess there were enough ppl involved to keep M. Night's involvement to negligible levels..they must have milked him for his "good stuff" and duck taped him when he wandered

for a supposedly "closed mini season" of a show, they sure left off with a great way to continue...

I am hoping they bring it back--I only found out about it by watching GOTHAM. Between GOTHAM, this show and hopefully a good XFILES return, I now have a new reason to watch FOX

It was ok. But I really hate the whole scientist is a mad scientist/messiah type figure. They're always depicted as such idiots. Towards the later half, the episodes seemed to have time skips but not really. There was a little too much progression of things that felt like too much of a propel forward. There was too much forgiving too. Nurse lady had no feeling of guilt or whatever you want to call it about her willing participation in straight up murder. Allegiances changed too quickly. There were a lot of other little plot points that I disliked, felt very illogical. I liked the first few episodes, the mystery and whatnot. But then it fell apart when they were trying to depict the people running the whole show as people of wisdom and intelligence. Nope! Not buying it. They're morons of the highest degree.

It's alright, self contained and fully complete as a story. Not a lot of hanging plots. The intrigue the first few episodes were good and ending was ok.

what i liked was that it was not overt that it was a sci fi show until episode 5 or so.

you only knew if you were familiar with the books -or read about here

and yeah-it cleans up and ends nice and tidy but it could easily go into a next season if they plan on following the books-apparently this season is based on the first book only

how did it not make sense? did you watch all 10 eps?

i admit the first 4 eps were a bit "just what is going on here?" especially since it was listed as a "drama" on my viewing guide (now that was a good call if it was done intentionally, if they would have listed it as "sci-fi" in viewing guides then when there was no sci fi to be seen for 5 eps, it would have lost a lot of ppl)

once they showed the Abbies and the ruined city of Boise, along with the new kid orientation, well, it pretty much summed things up as to the what and who of things

-mad scientist predicts the de evolution of mankind--no one listens but a few groupies

-mad scientist secures funding to put his suspended animation ops into full function/begins abductions/ secures the town of wayward pines and supplies

-places all ppl to include himself into suspension for +/- 4000 yrs (now, just who woke up the first batch? not really explained I admit)

had to destroy the first iterations of his project has the ppl rebelled/freaked out

-our "hero" is awakened and he has the balls and the ability to effect a change on the mad dr's plans

pretty straight fwd I think

There were any number of other ways he could have responded to the threat, other places or eras he could have set up Wayward Pines, and most certainly other ways he could have handled the people.

How was WP built in the first place with the dangerous threat of the abbies right there? If you've got the power to move all those people and all that equipment through time, don't you think you might think of more constructive ways of using that power? What about Pam? She seemed as blood-thirsty as the first sheriff in the beginning, then did an abrupt about-face and turned on her brother. Even if her earlier actions had been faked to fool Pilcher, the way she was acting was the exact opposite of what it would have taken to get people on her side.

but WP was an already existing town, all Pilcher built was the ark in the mountainside

remember the "in air" shots of the town? WP is located in a 'punchbowl' type of geo feature where it is nearly surrounded by mtns

they don't move through time..everything was built "now" and stored. the ppl were pilfered "now" and put on ice


and yes- Pilcher trying to kill everyone off just because they don't play by his rules was kind of strange even for a sci fi show. but maybe that is why he is a diminutive man? i haven't read the books, so i don't know if that is how he is in the books. but frequently, ppl of intellect and achievement who are seen as small in physicality are looked down upon and thereby often feel under appreciated and vindictive/controlling once they get control. Is Pilcher explained this way in the books? don't know

Well if you like Spy Mom(my goodness that women is put together) and you like Matt Dillion and I would say they both are doing a great job here so far then yes . It starts right off the bat with some weird stuff that gets your interest and then of course then a bit of back story but very little . The show so far has moved along much quicker than I thought . I was sure it was going to go into flashbacks left and right but it did not . So it's a good pace so far for me and now I want to see the next 6 eps real soon ....

It's only ten episodes, so give it a shot. I wasn't as impressed as some others, but it didn't bore me.

All done . I really liked it . The 10 eps worked great and ended surprisingly well . My wife mentioned that it seemed like a long Outer Limits ep and I had to agree ... 3 thumbs up !!!
