Did either of you watch? Sounds like another in the long line of soft scifi shows being passed of as scifi. How is it?

Oh damn...this sucks so far. I can barely finish it. :( There is so much wrong with the writing of this, the characters, the (what the hell is going on?) premise.

Something has happened, and more than halfway through this pilot we have absolutely NO idea what or why. Instead of determining what has happened, we see our (presumably) group of main characters, bonding over what is up until now, just some kind of power/water outage. Lots of people running around, but nobody knows what happened? Within minutes, we have rioting in the streets and our characters stealing an ambulance, then ending up at a mansion where one of them decides to take a naked dip in the pool?

WHAT THE HELL, Amazon? This is really bad bad BAD writing.

There is only 16:38 left in the episode and I still have no idea what is going on in this. These characters are already bonded and having small talk, and they just met. The rich old lady allows an ex-con armed with a shotgun along with a bunch of other strange people (and one who likes to use the f-word every other sentence) into her mansion which is filled with valuable things, and they all proceed to make themselves at home. WTF?. Its ridiculous. And still, at this point, nobody knows what has happened or why.

Okay, this is beyond bad. This thing falls in the same category as Tank Girl, it's so bad. Stereotypes abound, and the writing is so horribly bad it is painful to watch. I cant find a single redeeming thing about this show. Nothing at all. None of the characters are written well, the premise has not been defined, and there is a whole lot of stuff going on and nobody knows why. INCREDIBLY bad. No humor, over acting, stereotypes, missing plot/premise...what's not to love?

Just OMG. Amazon better not hitch anything to this wagon.

The first episode tells you nothing about the "crisis". But I am getting hints that this is somehow tied to a religious theme. Something having to do with demons and/or Revelation. If so, that is the nail in the coffin. Evidently, there is a lot of shilling going on in the reviews section at Amazon for this, since this is only a pilot and Amazon has not picked up the show yet. If they are smart, they will pass this one up and not waste another penny.

There are almost 5000 5 star reviews on Amazon for this, but they sound ridiculously scripted and are over the top. The best way to see how horrible this is is to watch it. Unfortunately, Amazon cannot refund me the hour I just wasted watching this crap.

it may not be religious--it could be that the "thing" is an alien. the tattoos on it corresponding in part-to the character's tat's and all of them having the same b-day could be something like the 'thing' being their "herdsman", though the why of their herding is unclear.

only one character-the nude swimmer-referenced religion I believe.

Looking at the other contenders for them making into a series, I think I would rather watch this over the other choices. (i thought they were going to all be shows not a "contest")

Yeah , but they are 'committed' in a sense to all of them as they have promised to make one adult series and one children's series. The competition is the three others; another cop show, some 'sex, drugs and classical music (amazon's description)' and some sports/drama thing--like I said, I would much rather see the sci-fi/ paranormal show as they are going to make one of the 4

So, if you watched it...how do you suspend belief for how these people started out in an elevator and ended up palling around in the old lady's mansion? I might understand it if civilization collapsed, but as far as we know there is just a power outage and water is not running. We saw people running around and we have seen windows break from some sort of sound. There was a reference to Revelation, and the tattoo on the cussing Aussie guy is the same as was on one of those demons which rules out aliens. The creature had horns too, and it was covered in tattoos which means there will be a "symbolism" theme going on too. But what the hell happened? I dont see any crisis. I have seen worse crowds and more excitement on college campuses during Rush Week. WHAT HAPPENED? It is inexcusable that this is not addressed. None of the characters ask the police what is going on, but the police are obviously managing some sort of crisis of some sort since they have been given orders to close off streets. Its just stupid.

This is not intelligent writing. The characters are obtuse, almost comical stereotypes, and what we see in the pilot is not even remotely believable. It is as if the writer wants to skip over the meat of the thing and get right to the interpersonal reactions and struggles. If the writer wants to do that, he/she has to give us a reason why these things are happening and they did not do that. They didnt even TRY. In real life, as soon as this group was free from the garage, they would be going home to check on their loved ones and/or homes. Why would these people end up driving a stolen ambulance full of these other characters (a lawyer, a lesbian Latina security guard, a French actress, a clown who is gay, a black jail escapee and a high end call girl with the lawyer), end up hanging out with the old Jewish lady who is worth more than 100 million? Why would this lady allow the black jail escapee to come into her home? Why would she have ANY of these people in her home?

Nothing is destroyed, no fires or smoke or apparent damage to anything inside or outside, except of course the DUMB helicopters crashing into each other. What was that anyway??? And the gratuitous nude pool scene in the old lady's pool. WTF???? They freakin just met an hour earlier!

But the worst part of this atrocity is the stereotypes. Stereotypical sleazy lawyer, stereotypical black criminal, stereotypical prostitute, stereotypical old rich Jewish lady, and they made it worse by having the lady with Graciela who is a Latina housekeeper...but of course she is associated with stereotypical Cholos from the barrio, replete with flannel shirts and bandanas.

This excrement cannot be allowed to become a series, and I really do not think it will. It is so far over the top I cant see the demographic who would find this appealing. It is insultingly stupid. I would rather watch Tank Girl.

Well, it is fiction. If all fiction were written to those demanding standards there would be very little left to watch :icon_e_surprised: We have had to suspend belief to get into a lot of the shows we all admit to liking; any ST, SG, B5,etc. Also, just because something may be "religious" doesn't mean it will be a bad show; I believe nothing in the Book of Revelation by I enjoyed the hell out of MILLENNIUM and Frank Black. And the reference to revelation was by the call girl--ppl with a guilty conscience are often the first to resort to magic thinking when in trouble. I don't remember the clown saying he was gay, but the drunk Irishman making the implication instead just because he was a clown (how the writers get clown = gay I do not know)

It is a pilot of a different-what Amazon obviously thinks as clever-way. I think they wrote them in a manner hoping to demand a "more" shout from those who liked a specific show. If it were "in the can"-a done deal, I am sure the pilot would of had more meat and some explanation-They enticed to get votes for Amazon's little contest (I say make a decision and make the shows-I am sure they can afford to make all of them,NETFLIX did not have any popularity contests before they made their new series')

It is ironic you used the phrase "comical stereotypes" similar words I used in writing my op at the amazonoriginals.com site--the trigger happy female cop, the black man as convict, the rich white woman as airhead and the hispanics as vandals/burglars, etc

As to the "demon/alien/what ever the F it is"=I have seen aliens with horns in other shows-like Andorians for example. The presence of the tats means nothing religious-it could be that these ppl and others, have been "studied (aka abducted)" at diff times in life and 'mapped' based on age (they all have same birth dates=perhaps these "aliens" use age by the day/month regardless of year (like a chinese zodiac, it doesn't matter the individual yr, just that one is matched (in the case of marriage) with another of the same zodiac yr) So, my theory--and I am sticking to it :winking0052:--is that they are some type of alien (or perhaps from within our earth, hmmm) that is "herding" ppl based on their observations-the birth day first then the victim's tat's (if any-remember he had writing on him as well though I couldn't make it out) as secondary info.

I am guessing we will not have any more of this show to consider though- I am thinking that the majority of subscribers will either vote for the "sex, drugs and Mozart" show or the one about the female sports coach.

Or possibly, they will announce the "winner" for PR purposes and then later make all of the shows anyhow-if they want to be in the original content business, they can't chose all of their new stuff in this manner.

So it seems that Amazon's "public opinion=the show we'll make" was just a PR ploy

They are or have already-made all of those in the "contest" into series

THE AFTER will begin airing in 2015-one ep per week, for a planned 99 weeks then done stint

Ah HAHAHAHA! The shills really did a number on Amazon! Unlike the puffery that happens with cable shows, whose audiences could be anywhere and anybody, even in an airport or barber shop, Amazon's audience is known. One person can have several accounts, but what shill is going to buy Amazon Prime at $99.00/yr just to falsely pump up a show> This thing is absolute garbage, ABSOLUTELY. Have you seen it? :) :anim_59: :happy0007:

It is mind numbingly insipid.

Amazon will be able to easily see who is watching the show. :) The numbers wont lie like they do in comment ratings.
