Okay, the full HD copy of The Interview made it into the dark alleys of the internet and I was able to "acquire" it. :) This movie is friggin HILARIOUS! I cant believe that Sony would let this sit on a shelf and not make money from it. It turns out that Sony did allow a limited release at 350 independent theaters:

I have acquired trhe movie in HD and I have to say it is friggin HILARIOUS! It starts out with a hilarious opening in North Korea, and the rest of it is a hodgepodge of different funny threads. The movie is about two reporters who are chasing the ultimate stories around the world and around the US for the network show they both run called Skylark. This show is supposedly the most popular shock interview show on TV and amongst their first interviews is Eminem who gives us a REAL shocker! Then they find out that North Korea's leader is a fan of the show and they arrange to get an interview with him.

I cant say much more, but this movie is a COMEDY, not a documentary and not a drama. It is full of lighthearted fun on the level of an Austin Powers movie, only with Franco and Ferrell playing off each other's adolescent humor. It isnt horrible with them both in this, which is surprising.

If you can manage to see this somehow, please do. You will laugh your butt off!

I think you mean Franco and Rogen. If Will Ferrell is in it I won't watch it no matter how good it might be otherwise.

Yep...Rogan. :) I mix them up sometimes. They were great together in this, in the same vein as Dan Akroyd and Bill Murray do it.

Hmm, that's interesting. I generally despise Franco and Rogen and find them about as funny as a festering colon polyp. But I have no doubt this movie will be released in some larger form and will make its way to cable eventually. I'll catch it on a free HBO weekend at some point I'm sure.

If it was so good (and I suspect that you are correct), then why not watch it now in the theaters?

Sony is the one preventing the screenings, not the theaters or the audiences. I think they should release it. Funny as hell! Even the very moment that Kim Il whatever his name is dies, it is still funny as hell. It isnt serious AT ALL. If anything, it gave some substance to North Korea that probably does not exist in the first place. Its a complete farce and it just seems bizarre that anybody would go as far as to hack Sony to the tune of over 100 million dollars because of it. But I also believe it was real because of the extent of the damage and the release of material and information which would not seem to indicate a self-inflicted wound.

If you can, see it! :) Its friggin hilarious.

I just CANT STAND Seth Rogan by himself. He just makes my face scrunch up, like he did in Green Hornet. But in this, with Franco who I also CANT STAND by himself, the two of them as a team actually works. They are the new Ackroyd and Murray...they have that chemistry on screen and it is great in this movie. The thing is actually very easy to watch all the way through, and even a second time around or two. Yep, Im saying this and Im not wasted right now. :)

From your link:

It’s fairing even more poorly with top critics, who give it a measly 32 percent positive rating.
The film is doing better with regular fans, however. It gets a 73 percent “liked it” audience score from Rotten Tomatoes.

I never read stuff from the "top critics". They hated Oblivion, and they didnt love Pacific Rim but they loved Gravity? :)

My point was that if regular fans are viewing the film, then it must be some movie theaters.

As you I cannot stand either of these guys but I did slightly like Rogan's character in 50/50 just a teeny teeny bit . Probly cuz he was not on the screen as much in that movie . I'll check Interview out . A friend of mine said he is good in The Guilt Trip with Barbara Streisand . Another one I have not seen .

Thanks for the update OM

:) :) :)

Not much, really. :) This thing is fast, fresh and fun. And very VERY funny. I highly recommend watching it if you can get your hands on it or catch it unexpectedly at your local theaters.

Ummm a big thumbs down from me my friend . Shut it off after 20 mins as no laughter was coming to mind . Rogan and Franco proved to me once again that they both suck . This movie reminded me of The Hangover as it also had a zero laugh factor for me . With Hangover I tortured myself loathing it all the way through . I was not going to put myself though that again with this movie .
I did enjoy the helicopter shot though on the mountains and the incredibly beautiful Korean girl . Of course I only lasted a few more minutes then turned it off .

:) :) :)

Really? I thought it was hilarious, right from the first 5 minutes on. :) The girl in North Korea was more than halfway through the movie, so you watched more than you are letting on.....:anim_59:

Yah . I guess I did . I was really trying to find the fun factor in it . Perhaps because I am Canadin the battle between the US and North Korea are more of an American thing .
I thought Franco was way over the top with his character and Rogan actually seemed to be the level headed and delivered his lines accordingly to what I was getting from there storyline . Just looked like Franco was trying to hard for laughs .
I may try and finish it . Oh , I forgot to mention that I did get a kick out of the opening number . The translation was kinda funny but I must admit though also disturbing at the same time .

I'm unable to embed this video from an interview Franco did with Charlie Rose. When I saw it I came away from it realizing that Franco is a self-important douche bag. I mean, he blathers on about art and all this inane stuff yet is basically incoherent and just says a lot of nothing.

Ever since seeing this interview I've got him figured out. He's not that deep. He has an inflated ego and gives himself an undeserved reputation for being an acting, and comedic, genius. Too me though he's an insufferable prick.
