So, I DVR'ed the first two eps of this show and watched them back to back last night and I must say it's quite interesting. Not exactly brilliant, but a good starting point for a 3-5 year series run.

In case you have not seen the trailers for it:

I must admit my main attraction to it was to see James Spader again, but yeah, not bad.

Anyone else watching?
Any thoughts?

Looks interesting

Any type of "interesting" aspects? Like how does he know the info he does; boring note keeping or some type of "sci fi'ish/para normal" angle?

nah, he (Spader) was a career "off the grid" criminal for 20 odd years, and now he is using his knowledge to bring down the people who make stuff happen. NOT the people who pay the bills and call the shots, but the actual "profesionals" who do the jobs. His background is someone who was to be fast-tracked into the naval admiralty as a young guy who vanished, so it sorta feels like a "Punisher" type set up.

I like it. :)

I dunno. It's on ABC. That usually means it'll be scrubbed clean to be as vanilla as possible or it'll be filled with emotional drama making it mandatory to watch with a hanky. Or maybe both.

It's def not clean dude, they have operatives torturing people (with bone breaking sound fx) and spaders character is certainly no nice guy.
(Mrs GF was like "well, I did not expect THAT lvl of shady-ness")
Watch ep 2, as it's more likely to be the tenor of the show more than the pilot as they are more inline with the budget and such.

All this show is missing is Quid pro quo and Clarice Starling.

Spader is ok in this but maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan is it bleh overall and what the fook is up with the editing? everytime they switch to a scene with spader in the first 10 seconds he is allways laughing this fake laugh... seriously i could make a compilation video of just that... its as bad as how many "indeeds" theyd have tealc say in an episode of SG back in the day but worse... ive given this show 7 episodes sofar and like i said spader does an ok job but maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan its "BLEH" personified. also having a hard time beliving the FBI would be the ones this masterspy chose to give himself up to... naw im done time to look ofr something else to Watch.

It's ok, it's not anything I would consider watching again on DVD or streaming, it's just interesting enough to sustain me for a one hour hit once a week.

No, it's not on ABC. Castle is on ABC at that time.

(I don't watch The Blacklist)

Watched all of s1 on netflix (who would watch it on amazon prime with a per ep fee? dumb-anyhow)- waited to watch till it was nearly time for s2

out this monday-the 22nd

Spader's acting style as this character reminds me of Columbo--but a really hard assed killer version of columbo

Anyone else reminded of the Daniel character from sg1 by the actor who played Izzies husband? kind of weird coincidence

Hope the new season is as good or better than s1

You do know that James Spader WAS the original Daniel Jackson yeah?

I am looking forward to S2, as well :)

Come on! Do we really need a "Duh!" emoticon? :haha:

kidding

I mean Michael Shanks--Izzie's "husband" reminds me of Shanks portrayal of Daniel Jackson

S2 starts on Monday here--there as well?

Not sure, a lot of the time we delay the first 3-4 eps to get the ratings (G-PG-M-MA) crap out of the way then do 2 weeks of double eps for buzz and then stay around 24 hours behind you (which is more like 6 due to Time zones)

last nights ep was pretty good

a lot of one liners and funny moments for Tom Keene

hope the writes are going to get back to the original formula though--this "on the run" thing is getting a bit wonky
