poor Mr. Rac- he went out to mow the law and discovered a 3 foot snake in the back yard. turns out he doesn't like snakes (he's a complete city-kid!) and he had a heck of a time throwing it into the pond. it wasn't a poisonous snake (but I swear the snake thought it was- a very agressive snake) just your garden variety Black Racer ( very long black on top grey on bottom)but the first snake we've seen in 9 years in this neighborhood! :P So excitment over - back to your regularly scheduled naps! :D

Not a snake lover here having been bit by Garter snakes a bunch of times cause I was a bit of a duffus and would just pick the buggers up as a kid . 6 foot long black water snakes at my grandmas cabin .Won't go near the bastards now though . We have a ton of rattle snakes just north of Toronto but I'm a city slicker now so I really never head north . Funny though as I was born in a fishing lodge that my parent's managed but I never ever want to go back to the woods .
Hope mr rac is ok ,,, . They are scary creatures :tealcanime23::tealcanime23::tealcanime23:

he's fine tripler- finished mowing the lawn and no sign of the snake. although it has encouraged us to be more cautious abt leaving the garage door open. I don't like snakes either- so I'm glad it was him and not me. i wish i had video of him chasing it into the pond- what a riot! that snake had 'tude. it kept rearing up and snapping at the shovel -- bit it wasn't poisonous. go figure. I think the snake probably had a dream it was a rattler and didn't realize it was awake! :P

we spent a number of years in utah and loved to hike in the mountains- heard a few rattlers, but never saw one. I grew up in maine where we had water moccasins & copperheads- got chased by a few :P but never bitten. 100% city gal now! :D

We have rattlers in CA. But they never go near homes or cities. But in Palm Springs and Vegas and places like San Bernardino and Riverside, neighborhoods can have rattlers in their homes. But at least rattlers warn you!
