Good witchery stuff in it? :)

I know WGN is cable and all...however, I never expected to see the things I saw in SALEM that I did

Not being a prude, but even SHOWTIME and HBO use these kind of things sparingly

Of course I am talking sex and just way outlandish-but good--witchcraft scenes

It is definitely unique--which is good. And, at least in ep 1 -all sex and gore had a purpose other than just having been shown for the sake of showing it

I should give this one a try. I watched the premiere of "Turn" on AMC and liked it but got distracted by other stuff on Sunday night, namely "The Bletchly Circle" on PBS. I'm amazed by the way the British turn out intriguing shows that are low on action but chock full of movement. The Walking Dumb really needs some British writers.

At any rate I'll give Salem a try if I can catch it. Hopefully it will be to my liking. If not I know where to send the bill. ;)

I probably won't see this for a bit, so can you describe the "witchy bits" for me dude. ( you can gloss the sex suff)

stuff like a witch storing some important toad down her husband's throat while everyone thinks he is incapable of talking

writhing bodies in flaming tar-presumably those of other witches that are trying to enter/escape hell?

The sex stuff (just watched 2nd ep-nothing in it) is pretty bold-like back door action minus shown penetration

This next ep showed a stillbirth in action

But to put it in words does no 'justice' to it-the manner in which these things are portrayed is definitely new (so far as I know) for American TV

This trailer shows only a little

And I nearly forgot the one scene that was both sex and magic

What 17th century American witch would not be caught dead without her "tele-presence inducing magical dildo-conveniently stored in her broom handle"

The only way for a true bewitching Puritan beauty to attend those night time raising Hell ceremonies without fearing capture

It was a quick scene, but it was there

Anyone keeping up with this? I have, so far so good. Some things are predictable, but in general, IMO, a much better show than the stuff the "usual networks" have been putting up.

And the sex and violence has toned down after the season beginning (wanted to get attn I guess)-now either is usually only shown when it is part of the plot

The Rev Mather Sr is quite the S.O.B. isn't he? I am pretty sure he is going to meet up with a bloody end==perhaps they will have him pinned as a witch?

The actor who plays him does a pretty good job at portraying a nutcase, psychopathic murderous 17th century Reverend too

I believe he was in AVATAR and that failed fox tv time travel to dinotopia show as well

just found out that the Mather's were actual witch hunters in Salem--I did not know that...

I forgot about this one. Haven't seen commercials for it lately and WGN is wayyyyyyy up the dial so I don't get to it often.
